IMO ultrasonic steeping is a waste of time as are whisking and all the other speeding up tactics.... HAVING PATIENCE IS THE ONLY WAY TO STEEP ... mix, bottle, place in a cool dark place and forget about it for a week or more depending on what you are mixing ... THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS.

No such thing as ultrasonic steeping. Steeping is the process of chemical breakdown and this is done through patience and time. Using an ultrasonic cleaner will do nothing more that mix the reagents really well. Sorry. It cleans shit really nice though

Try your other post on the same topic for the answer.

As I u derstood it steeping is the wrong name for it. And that it's nothing to do with breakdown down.
It's to do with all the molecules fully mixing together so that the flavour is at its best. (All flavour molecules evenly blending in with all the vg/pg/nic)
To that end in can be sped up with shaking and ultrasonics from what I have read

Personally never used ultrasonic apart of cleaning bits and would be the last thing I would use to steep any liquid... Same thing as a microwave... Most of the times, in our effort to shorten processes we might destroy our liquids, especially if we do not know why we wanna do something and how we can do something... In case you decide to use ultrasonic process, all you have to take care is the temperature of the water... try to keep it warm and not hot... also the duration of the whole process, you have to know for how much time you will use it... and the worst thing of every steeping method (except one) is that there is no return in what you do... for example using higher temperature it will definitely degrade nicotine, plus your liquid probably go off (depending on the concentrates you will use)... in case you really need something that will speed your process, this could be a stirrer (under some circumstances, a thermal one), in case you do not want to stir it yourself... the better way of steeping is time... plus you have a better control of the ageing of your liquid (checking it and tasting it every couple of days, so you know exactly when your liquid has reached its best condition)... you can also check out www.thealchemistscupboard.co.uk/page/steeping there's plenty of useful information...

I have been mixing for over 2 years and have tried all of these so called speeding up processes ... ultrasonic, whisking, microwave, caps on/off, shake every day etc etc etc and none of them have made one bit of difference to the time required to let a mix properly mature. As I said in my earlier post, having patience and leaving the mix alone in a dark place for the required amount of time is the only way. However, by all means conduct your own experiments and reach your own conclusion.

Hi. leeholmes . Me relatively new to mixing too. Did all the shaking, heating, hot water bath stuff in my first batch, and, in spite of the attention I lavished on it, it still did not seem to make any difference, but leaving it a couple of weeks did. Have now got used to it, and find myself forgetting about it then looking at my bottles and being pleasantly surprised that it's time to start Vaping...

Welcome to you leeholmes. As said on your t'other thread . . . . don't do it, Ultrasonic Cleaners are great for cleaning equipment - forget about using them to speed the steeping process along though. There is no substitute for some time and a little patience, whatever you may read on the net. My suggestion would be to mix some ' Shake n Vape ' brews whilst you wait for those that take longer to steep naturally. Out of interest what flavours are you intending on using?

Steeping time is simple. Mix it, order some batteries from China, when they arrive it's steeped.

Thanks for your input everyone, It seems Ultrasonic isn't the way to go and leaving in a dark place for weeks is, Can I just ask as I'm new to DIY does that mean if I make a 10ml bottle of say Strawberry Shortcake do I need to wait for 2 - 3 weeks just to see if I've got the percentage of the flavours rite and if not I need to add more flavour or make more up and leave for another 2 - 3 weeks till I get the required amount I like...

Natural steep. Was only relaying info I read in the guide section
