Hmmm such a shame it's not recommended to dry burn this Nife30

What temp though, I dry burn Ni at 600 F and give it a good wash.

Interesting Well as the crazy wire company has different sites I found my usual 25 gauge 317L on one of them and that has always been the best ss I've tried. It just works a treat as I would expect so I've ordered some more in the hope it performs the same as the last one of that gauge I had from them. I'm still going to try the Nife30 though I'm surprised you dry burn NI I always thought that was a big no no hmmmm

use a coil jig to wind it as contact coils, I struggled to make spaced coils with one as I was always trying to wrap like I had done in the past with a coil former with zero space ..... took me about 3meters of wire to get the spaced stuff sorted lol

I've gone for the 26 gauge Nife30 and I'll probably try contact coils done with the coil master. But if my new order of 25 gauge 317L works as expected I'll probably stick to that as it's been working wonders. Really strange how the 24 gauge doesn't work out nowhere near as good

Sorry I don't charliehorse but I've generally been happy with Ni, but using dual coil cotton on a older mod that needs >= 0.1 ohm I find Ti promising and hear good things about SVs NiFe30 even being better than ss. It is ! I have NiFe30 in an Aromamizer on your mod I tried VAM 317L when it first came out and couldn't get it to work on a DNA200 - no temp just VW all the time, will never use VAM again, I do notice that SV doesn't stock any SS and they will not answer an email as to why - so suspect they don't believe it is good to use, but it works fine in Triton & Crown coils - go figure.

I think it's called haywire because if it unwinds it really does go haywire. The whole lot if let loose will spring out off the reel

Richard46 yeah it was normally I would buy a larger roll off stealthvape for that price but I didn't want to get left with a huge amount of useless wire if it didn't work out, I checked crazy on amazon but their price wasn't any cheaper at the time I placed the order, charliehorse hmm it seems the tcr level changes with the awg, as well as type of wire and so on, doesn't help that the koopor plus mod is a bit backwards and requires an external programmer unit in order to hook up to a pc to set the values or change firmware, rather makes me think that the units are prototype pre sales devices with a lower end chip in that originally desired especially given all the problems ive seen reported are around it switching from tc to power mode mid fire and defauting ot fireing at 200w in tc mode.... perhaps I will just stick to power mode with kanthal until I get a better mod, well i'll still use the ni200 in tc on the dovpo forever 30w even if the mod is barely capable of hitting the temp limit @ full power setting.... Hmmm now that might be the problem I'm having. TCR changes with gauge? So going from 25 to 24 gauge has such a massive effect? If that's the case then how easy /hard would it be to correct the TCR in Escribe I'm thinking?

I'm not sure that it does change with gauge but there are other things that will, like surface area.

The only time I have heard of TCR supposedly varying with gauge was Sweet Spot Vapers Ti wire, changing the TCR may help, but technically it is not thickness dependent (only in so far as physical expansion affects it). I have read a lot of people with ss turn the preheat right down to get rid of hot legs and others not using enough to get the coils to raise temp quick enough that the mod recognises it as a temp sensing wire so drops out of temp mode.

Thinking about it the csv file from steam engine for 317L is for haywire and the wire companies 317L 25 gauge used to be called haywire on their site. It's now all called tmc whatever the gauge. So I reckon the curve maybe for the original 25 gauge 317L haywire which works a treat

But saying that the haywire also works a treat on my evic mini and that hasn't got an exact curve for that wire Ouch my brain is hurting

Can anyone explain what I'm looking at in Steam Engine when I input the details of my build to try and get the correct TCR setting for 316L Stainless Steel. I've seen a post that says the correct TCR setting is 92 on an Evic Mini but this seems to be the same for 316 as well as 316L, but I don't see this number or anything like it when I load the details in to Steam Engine. So what do I need to look at/calculate to get the right setting for my build? Can anyone give me the idiots guide to the settings in my screen grab please.
