Thanks jtc. I would really like to get to grips with the information that Steam Engine is providing but there doesn't appear to be an easy guide to understanding it which makes it useless to me at the moment.

Thanks for the link VB very informative and has helped me understand a few grey areas. I have been playing around with Steam Engine this week, looking for suitable builds for my aromamizer. I have built quiet a few coils and am making a bit of progress. (I think! ) My preferred heat flux is quite low, ( around 150mw/mm at 35w ) I realise that the aromamizer is more suited to lower ohm's and higher wattages but am hoping to get it working reasonably well. Do you know if Steam Engine can be used in reverse, so to speak? ie. enter the heat flux, coil diameter etc. and then let it suggest number of wraps and size of wire? I am probably wide of the mark here and talking b######s. Too many variables I imagine!

Too many variables I imagine! It would be nice if it worked like that, I set everything then adjust the ohms and if I can't get where I want I drop a wire diameter. I used to up the Int. Dia. but you have to add loads to get enough change. I like lower heat flux to. For the Lizer I have found 2 mm ID Horz coils level with the top of the posts work well with Ni (tw 0.25 & 3tw 0.2 V low res! 0.05), Ti (0.4) & SS317 (0.4) about 10 wraps slightly longer than the gap between the posts, YMMV.

Good tip about adjusting the wire size, should save a bit of faffin about. I'll get some more wire types ordered and carry on experimenting. I need to rest the Lizer for a few weeks as it has hammered my juice stocks! Not complaining, just surprised how much juice it gets through! Many thanks.

Well I've spent all night coiling for my crius and my new griffin. Ive been trying different ss wires in tc to see if the griffin accepts differently from the crius. I'm still finding 25 gauge 317L to work the best for me and monitoring it in escribe just inforces things. I also tried some Nife30 It's a great vape and does tc excellent. It's not as spikey when it hits temperature as ss but I don't think I can put up with no dry burning and making spaced coils all the time. The 317L is far less spikey than 304 and 430 and it just seems to deal with heat the best for me. Also using the 25 gauge makes a massive difference from other gauges in vape performance. I didn't try 316 tonight but I think I've found my preferred wire for TC out of all available right now

Tell you what after my last post I used some of my new 25 gauge 317L Guess what It's crap in tc GRRRRRR They must be making it differently and it's just not cutting it. I give up I'm in normal power mode and it's fine and I think my journey of tc is over. It's becoming too much hassle now and tbh I can coil and wick perfectly well with no problems and no dry hits. I'm even thinking of going back to kanthal and I never thought I'd say that but it's just less hassle and it works. I'm really feeling pished about this at the moment and feel I've wasted way too much time on it

Not this time no but I have tried it in the past I took it up to 500f this morning at 45w and it still hits tc. I seriously give up. I always thought tc was the way and always backed that up but having my griffin in kanthal right now I'm very happy

I think they made a mistake using a Fahrenheit or Centigrade setting as a lot of people will think it is accurate like a thermometer, .......... it isn`t.

Yes I know but I used the same wire and same tank and it worked spot on at 45w and 420F. Now I have a new batch it's reacting different. I just don't need so many variables. I'm really annoyed and I've spent a lot of money on different grades and gauges over time. Nope I'm out of this minefield and enjoying 24 gauge kanthal. I don't need TC and that's the simple fact I've come to realise

An interesting point about the Asolo anywire mod is that the mod works out the TCR itself. You dont actually need the Nickel and other "modes". You can put any coil on it, take a 6 seconds plus vape in straight power mode (adjusting the power to taste for each 6 second vape) and the mod works out the resistance change and computes it`s own TCR etc. You dont need to set a temperature.

I do think things are still in the infant stage of tc and yes I think more automatic sensing is definitely needed. Ive been using the steam engine csv files.

For me though right now scientific studies from real vapers on the safety of wires would interest me. I know there are some facts out there but I'd like to see more and better studying done on this. Obviously all we do is better than cigs but......
