Whether you are a new vaper or an old timer, the initial and ongoing search for what 'works' keeps us playing, tinkering and generally messing around in this habit/hobby. I thought I would share the things that I have found work for me. The setups, the juices and the habits. I would also love to know what all you folks are doing DrippingMy go to vape. Dual coil, 3mm diameter, 6 wraps of 24awg kanthal, packed tight (1/4 strip rolled) with cotton bacon, 70-100 watts depending on RDA. This gives me a warm and flavourful vape. My RDAs of choice are tugboats with slam or comp caps and also the snubnose RDA. I love the vape I get from these atties with this setup for custards, bakery and dessert type vapes. At home I've been dripping zero nic & for work I take a 3mg. In the car I have one of those EZ drippers and this has been one of the main revelations to me that has allowed me to drip as my ADV. TanksThere are still times when I prefer a tank over an RDA for the flavour profile or just for ease. For fruity, menthol & refreshing vapes, I prefer a tank. The OBS crius has been my tank of choice, original deck, tiny holes and all Dual coil, 2.5mm diameter, 10 wraps of 26awg kanthal, cotton not too tight (koh gen do), 40-50 watts. For this type of vape, I like a bit of a menthol kick and find it doesn't require mega power to give a great vape. Clear storm, RA (with a touch of menthol added) or pretty much any fruity mix I happen to be playing with with a touch of menthol are my favourites. It took me quite a while to figure out exactly what I like so I thought I would share. I know not everyone here vapes the same way I do, I'm sure not many of us vape exactly the same way These are the things I use to get me through the day, I dabble with temp control, fancy coil builds, mechs, low builds, clouds and MTL setups but the above is my staple! What 'just works' for you!?

I've not tried as many as some but everything I have tried has worked really. I started with a pen style vv ego battery and ce4 with some random brand liquid. I then found this place and moved on to a sigelei zmax with evod. I then started changing tanks. The aerotank, kayfuns that type of thing. My first box mod was a hana 30w clone, I loved that but have since moved on to a vt40 tc box which was s great mod, did exactly what it said it would with an ni200 build in a subtank. The vt50 has shed its threads though and despite our friend windows best efforts it's been laid to rest. I'm still using the subtank with ni200 but it's sitting on top of an istick 60w tc. It's obviously all worked as I haven't touched a stinky in over two years. I will say though I've never really got on with drippers, but I never say never.

My lazy everyday dripper setup is remarkably similar 6 wraps of .5mm but i usually use a 2.5mm rod to wrap on. Usually the same build on dual coil RTA's too. 4 wraps of .5mm on a 2.5mm rod for single coil RTA's. I don't use those builds all the time for all occasions but i would say they are the builds i use most regularly. I use far more .5mm kanthal than any other gauge, instant heat up and quick cooldown and it's just a nice thickness to work with not too stiff not too flimsy.
Can't get on with TC at all, the vape is weaksauce unless you up the limit way above the scorching point of cotton thus rendering it pointless as far as i am concerned.

What 'just works' for you!? Everything I own, from drippers to Tanks . . . . and if FastTech don't make a suitable ready coil for it, then I either don't bother or stick to stock coils. Gone are my days of coiling up a GG Penelope, Iatty or Odysseus. As for Mods anything really providing it isn't too clunky. The maximum wattage device I have is 60w, which more than does me as I seldom go over 21watts anyway. Can't be doing with faffing with any of my gear now to get a nice, satisfying vape. Eliquid, then anything I make is normally quite acceptable - ' premium ' brands I've occasionally tried, have with a couple of exceptions been a disappointment compared to what I can rustle up at home for a fraction of the cost. Perhaps I'm just easily pleased . . . .

Pretty much everything I've tried apart from TC, can't get it to work properly and I ain't about to beat myself up about it. Running a crius with twisted 0.4mm kanthal , can't remember how many wraps but it came in at .4 ohms giving a warm flavoursome vape with RA at 30w. Other Crius has normal 0.4mm kanthal at .5 ohms with Heisenberg and a Cloupor Z4 0.3mm kanthal at 0.8 ohms with Boba's Bounty. Prefer tobacco type juces at slightly higher ohms and lower watts but happy to lift the first one that comes to hand as they are all set up and working for me. Bit boring really, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Maybe not easily pleased Perpetua , more a case of happy with what you've got rather than rupturing your bank account and tearing your hair out trying to find what's not there or doesn't even exist.

Almost 4 years ago I started with a cheap kit with cartridges got me off the stinkies but not very satisfying moved to ego batteries and ce4 type thingys and thought they were the best thing since sliced bread then heard the lavatube v2 was coming and had to have one and a vivi nova used that to death haha then moved on to vamo's then I got a protank and thought I was in heaven and I used my vamo think it's a v2 (still works but the button is temperamental) all the way to getting an istick 20w and mini nauti styled thingy from fasttech (still going strong) Then this Halloween at our yearly party my brother let me try his subtank mini (he hated it) WOW so he offered a trade he would give me the tank if I made him absinth eliquid he only asked for a bottle but I made him 100ml and it's been a slippery slope since then. I ordered an istick 50w but am currently waiting on an Rx200 and daily look at new tanks even tho in all honesty I am really happy with my current set up the reason for the RX200 is the replaceable batteries I know I will never use half of it's power capabilities but at the price they are going for it would have been silly not too. So in all honesty everything works if you really want it to but the market right now is moving fast in my opinion too fast I can't keep up with what the best tank of the day is let alone the year.

I agree violetblade - the market is moving too fast & sadly too many folks are sucked into having to buy the latest For me I still love my Aerotank on either the iStick I bought over a year ago, or on the fabulous Titanium Provari so kindly sent to me (among many other things) on the forum's 5th anniversary Apart from replacement coils (for the Aerotank) & e-lquid, the only think I've bought this year was a Subox nano kit from Gearbest -It's OK, but still prefer the aerotank with iStick/Provari.

The technology has come on leaps and bounds in the last couple of years and sure there are lots of new things coming out all the time but vaping is constantly getting better. You only have to look at what has happened since the subtank to realise this. I think with any kind of technology it will always move fast for a good while before any kind of plateau. I find it interesting how some people refuse to move forward even if what they have now works. Ultimately I can't argue if it prevents anyone from smoking fags but embracing new ideas is a big part of it for me.

The Mrs started on an evod style battery and a ce4 clearo, from our local spar. The juice was rank and the clearo a joke. Thankfully she found this forum and made me order a dual evod 2 kit for us to share. It got us both of the stinkies.
The Mrs wanted to try many a tank like the kayfail, Russian, goblin, subtank etc but she finally settled on the first RTA I bought, the kraken. The genny system just made sense to the engineer in me, and the rest is history. We have an abundance f regulated and mech mods, but our krakens are still our go to tanks with 11.5 wraps of 0.4 kanthall giving 0.5 ohms total resistance. (PS, if you use cotton wicks on gennt setups, make your wicks a lot thinner than you normally would, this lets or krakens run up to 35W with stock airflow and the flavour is wow)
A for mods, I've never been a fan of inbuilt cells. Like to be able to replace them when they start to die. The mest regulated mods we have ae the kooper mini, the 50W clouper mini and the sigeli 100W+, as for mec mods, I cant best the stingray and nemesis. Drippers... we got a barrowful, but I like the versatility of the plume veil and the airflow of the dge at 100W for clouds.

I do a little bit of sub ohming with sub tanks/ isub, but for me pro/aero tanks around 10 watts hits my sweet spot, also I still enjoy my simple little K1000 e-pipe.

I agree, I've shunned the mega watts and twisted this and that for the last 3 months and returned to my trusty Provaris and Subtank mini's, everything else I have is gathering dust. 20 watts is more than enough to get a satisfying vape Its so easy to get sucked into the next best thing and if you can buy, try and move on if it's not for you good on you, sadly that attitude is not aligned with my mentality
