AIUI, you pays yer money and you gets your membership card... and then you get audited and advised to hell and back. Once you're in, you are expected to reach that certain standard. Kinda works for me, in a tortuous way.

If that's the case then it works for me too, was just a bit concerned by the "democratic processes" "membership is consulted" and "ECITA is representing the wishes of the majority of its members." parts. In fairness it does say "where appropriate."

I understand it costs an arm & a leg in subs to become a member of ECITA & only the big boys can afford the membership. Like E-lites for instance - still find it unbelievable that ECITA don't do something about their claims that one carto lasts the equivalent of 40 cigarettes But as they are a founding member of ECITA I guess they can get away with it

My first e cig was a 510 and the standard cart would be lucky to last more than an hour.

If you're talking about the e-lites then i would say they do, one cart was lasting me 2 days. Edit, but I did feel as if i was smoking less/ getting less nicoteine, which is good yeah?

Sorry Blufish, but I just don't see how the e-lites carts/cartos/tips whatever they want to call them can last for the equivalent of 40 cigs I should imagine at best they hold between 1 & 1.5ml of e-liquid? I think a 20 a day smoker, on average, gets through 2-4 ml a day ???

Well I never measured it but i did refill one of the carts for dil, with menthol and i gues i put about 20 drops in, all i know is one was lasting me 2 days, and that's not me trying to make it last that long because I had never used one befor, and had no knowledge of how long it was meant to last, apart from their claim that it was equivalent to 40 cigs. I would maybe agree that it lasted me as long as 40 cigs, that's what I said, not that it gave me the same nic as 40 cigs.

The challenge arises because "equal to ten fags" is such vague phrase. Equal how? In delivery of nicotine to the bloodstream? Number of draws? Number of minutes/hours/days it'll last? Have to say that in my experience, a cart holding 1.5ml of juice is nowhere close to being equal to 40 ciggies on any of those criteria - but that doesn't stop that kind of vendor from making the claim, and they'll even argue the toss that they're right and everybody else is wrong. Which, of course, is arse about face, if ever anything was.

I get where you are coming from BUT, for me it worked and i don't really care, even using e-cigs a bit of will power is required, the problem is not their claims, but tobbacco advertising, hence one cannot advertise e-cigs. If they were more widely known I feel sure it would be a much bigger take up rate.

e-cigs can be advertised ...e-lites take out a page advert in quite a few daily papers ....e-cigs arnt classified as a tobacco product

too true that's why I got on them Gordy my husband saw a advert I the paper and when I used the elite I was lucky if a cartridge would last me a day and I was only a 15-20 a day person !

That's the right way to compare e-cigs and analgoues in the absence of any absorption rate studies and data.

You can say, I used to be a 10-20-whatever a day smoker and found that one cartridge completely replaced and satisfied my habit for x number of days or hours or whatever, just like you have..It's a very personal thing..A vendor may conduct a poll of end users and say "Most of our 20 a day users have reported that it satisfies their habit for x, y or z days or hours.". Categorically saying that 2 elite cartidges is the equivalent of 80 fags is rubbish.

A direct comparison to of e-juice and analogues is like comparing the sky and ocean because they are both blue..
