... you get this screen, or equivalent on your provider. Plus it usually happens on a Friday afternoon (like today), when the engineers have already decamped to the pub for the weekend. I may not be online for long

Should resolve itself soon, otherwise reset the router. If it keeps happening then speak to them, the router keeps a log of all disconnections.

Raffles I recognized it instantly. I'm saddled with BT at work and it's more often off than on so you have my sympathy. Thankfully I'm with Virgin at home and never have a problem. Just had a thought... type in speedtest.btwholesale.com. in your browser( That's their own testing thingy) , tick yes then do test, follow through on next page. Take a screenshot then "give em hell".

I've been with most companies and BT are no better or worse than any other. More often than not it's the cable coming into your house that's the issue. ***Sits smugly with FTTP 300mb***

The times I've reset over the months, with no effect, I just wait for the 'Openreach' van to go past the window to the street 'box' and I know something is happening. As far as 'speaking to them', you must be joking... John from 'you know where' only speaks from a script in broken English. Nothing personal 'John'

Apart from the usual long wait when you move into a brand new house we have had amazing service from them.

Rafflesthe biggest problem with the connection is the router.... when I was with BT I had that problem only when I used their supplied locked down P.O.S. router, soon as I plugged in something from the local shop the problems disappeared like magic, I moved over to +net when it was a separate company and went to fibre back in 2011, in that time I've plugged in the supplied router twice both times to prove a fault for the help desk, still in Yorkshire with broken English speaking script users (although to be fair they sound like they were imported from Mumbai for the low paid jobs) fortunately for me though since I have a decent router I don't struggle with connection loss that often

As soon as I'm out of contract I'm ditching BT. I only had it because it was a cheaper option than Sky for Graham's football. Will BT let me keep the You View box thing and will it still work?

I've had the same problem for the last couple of days, and since I live such a sad life, being without internet is not an option. Took a trip to PC world and purchased Osprey Mini 2 for £9.99 and it's a portable router. I signed up for a rolling monthly contract (can cancel after a month) 15 GB data for £20, (other plans available) and I can opt out and back in again at any time. To be honest, it's faster than BT, and I'm seriously thinking of cancelling BT landline and broadband, just using mobile phone instead of landline. I never use all those free minutes...

I use giffgaff and my phone as a hotspot. Its pretty quick, reliable and for £20 a month I get unlimited calls, texts and internet. No contract.

Will BT let me keep the You View box thing and will it still work? they might not ask for it back but the internet channels wont work once you cancel with them. if your moving to someone else and want similar service your options are bigger than they used to be but despite having the lowest price I'd steer clear of stalk stalk if I were you, they have the worst customer services and least secure internet of all the tv offering providers. oh and even with BT you can swap to a decent router, although in saying that if you plan on moving to sky or stalkstalk you would have to use the cheap junk supplied router with them and if your not on fibre not many companies offer tv packagaes anyway
