Apologies if this has already been reported on AAEC could not find it. This report aims to provide a fresh update on the use of harm reduction in tobacco smoking, in relation to all non-tobacco nicotine products but particularly e-cigarettes. It concludes that, for all the potential risks involved, harm reduction has huge potential to prevent death and disability from tobacco use, and to hasten our progress to a tobacco-free society. www.rcplondon.ac.uk/projects/outputs/nicotine-without-smoke-tobacco-harm-reduction-0

Take a bow Professor John Britton on behalf of the royal college of physicians. His defining statement "any tobacco smokers who haven't tried e-cigarettes should !" I bet big Dave is sitting in Downing Street with head in hands and it shoved a wasp up the arse of the anti brigade !

This will again prove, that this government only take on board what they want to believe and what suits their own agenda chykensa. Reason and common sense is only used by politicians when it's to their benefit.

I hate this say this (I know I'm a cynic) - but this is all about money and not about health TPD coming up - won't get the desired cash for government if people don't vape!!! So back peddling or sheer manipulation

Takes an awful long time for common sense to turn up. So it'll be onto influencing children to smoke and if thats the worry... ban tobacco. The problem is tobacco and related ingredients...common sense not available on that.

Some good stuff coming out now, which was inevitable in the end. I say gather all the naysayers and dump the lot of them in the middle of the Atlantic for being the numpties that they are. Anyone with even half a brain cell would realise vaping was better than smoking.

I think this report is great for all of us, but why do the press keep using outdated images. Does anyone use one of these? I'm sure the majority use something a bit more sophisticated these days.

Some really positive stuff in the report (still trying to digest it all), but the overall tone of its conclusions seems to be pretty unequivocal. Well done to the Royal College of Physicians!

Professor John Britton has just been on the Victoria Derbyshire BBC programme discussing e-cigs along with Sarah (a vaper) and someone from a smoking cessation service

Very outdated. But that was all that was available, coming up to 8 years ago when I bought my first e-cig. Back then, hardly anyone had even heard of e-cigs, so I posted wherever I could about them, as I knew they had so much potential to help every smoker. Got to admit, it's blooming brilliant to see more & more of the medical world, now seeing how e-cigs can save lives.

If only these people had come out a year ago what a difference it could have made.

Better late than never, and may help some of the other EU countries that have more stringent regulations coming. Who knows what more will come out before May 2017, or changes in public attitude.
