Just reading up on this, finally got my 3 DIY flavours nailed down and the EU sticks its beak in lol. Up until now Ive been buying a "base" mix of PG70/VG30 0.6% nic. Im on a small budget so Im thinking I should buy some nicotine bottles just now and I can buy PG/VG anytime from what I understand of TPD.
I know that to get 100ml of 3mg nic I just divide 3 by the 48 or 72mg nicotine concentrate then times it by 100, but Im not sure why there are different mg of nicotine ie 48 and 72, can anyone tell me which would be best for low nicotine levels, or does it not really matter? Im not sub ohming either, just 1.2 to 1.8 ohms on my Kanger subtank

Ignoring price, the difference between 48 and 72 is the amount of base containing nic needed to make up juice.
Think concentrated drinking juice that you dilute with water. Some need less, some more.
Also, as nic is carried in either PG or VG a lower concentrate restricts the ratio of VG/PG in the overall mix. Assuming it's in PG, you'd use more of 48 than 72 meaning that it would be difficult to make a high VG juice with 48.

Cheers pipeman, I got that Ejuice Calculator, to make 80ml (100ml bottles but some shakin room ) my 0.6% nic juice comes out with nicely rounded numbers with the 48mg, but uses nearly twice as much as the 72mg, going to have to get some new syringes lol. Thanks again

and I as I go to order 72mg, it turns out Royal Mail are said to be destroying anything above 5mg of nicotine, so vapable needs to use a courier for it, seems like the world is conspiring against vaping grrr. vapable.com/product/72mg-nicotine/

With the TPD coming up fast I am a bit late to the stocking up party. However I have had a point-blank ban on freezing nic in the family freezer. Does anyone know how long nic will last unfrozen. I am now down to 2 or 3 mg so use very little - around 4ml per 100ml @72mg so I don't need much. Nick You have one year left (May 2017 )as the TPD fully kicks in/end of the sell off period for all products and nicotine e-liquids that can't gain TPD approval. After May 2017 you will be able to purchase 10ml bottles of 20mg How long will nicotine base keep if not kept in the fridge or freezer depends on how you store it and how fussy you are regarding the taste! if you don't mind a peppery background taste slowly creeping into your 2-3mg mix then it should be fine for years and years. Disclaimer: My definition of "fine for years and years" might be different from any person who has never rummaged though an ashtray looking for a dog end to spark up at 4 am back in the good old days before i discovered vapeing.

I don't think the pepper taste would be too nice in the sweet flavours though /

I'm not all that fussed personally, i only vape 3mg juice. I have 250ml of 72mg PG in the fridge and that's it. Good for you! Yes. I'm going down to 3mg soon. My 160ml (?) of base (54/72) will stretch a fair way and I think 2 x 500ml of 54 or 72 ought to see me through. My plan is to buy 2 x 500ml of 72mg for the freezer. <1.2 litres of base does a lot of 3mg juice. - - - I'd also like to know the date.

After May 2017 you will be able to purchase 10ml bottles of 20mg Now, there's a thought. Unless the prices go totally mad, a 10ml bottle of 20mg ( x 2 or 3 ) unflavoured would also go a long way for the 3mg DIYer. Helpful idea!

Chances are that prices won't go to mad ,not to start with My bet is the UK tax man will announces ( after the option to stock up is off the table) That the other nasty members of the EU have forced him to tax nicotine containing e-liquids in line with other tobacco products -- Ref: Nicotine containing liquids are now covered by the TPD

as to the original question about how long it will last, ive had an open 100ml bottle in the cupboard of my lounge next to my pc (so hotter than a normal room) for about 5 months and its still clear and doesn't seem to have changed flavour at all, I suspect that once it takes on a coloured hue it will change flavour but I don't expect that to be for a few months, the real trick is to decant it asap into small amber glass bottles that equate to roughly 1 months worth of usage, store them all out of sunlight and don't shake them until just before you use it,
although I must aslo say I've got nearly half a litre in the freezer in glass bottles inside a resealable plastic freezer bag inside a tuperware tub, just in case something untoward happens it wont contaminate the food.... perhaps you could talk your other half into allowing the same thing.
if not then grab a handy supply of amber glass bottles and take over a dark space to store your supply in, under the EU harmonisation of taxes rules we will see tobacco tax added to e-juice next year and the rates are likely to be eye watering....

Whats those non essentials deserved of high taxation(s) + VAT:
Petrol Diesel Heating Oil ?
Beer Wine Spirits Tobacco
Others almost unmentionable?
4 of them there shout out for the big hit... and Nic alone has to be next. Perhaps only when its mixed with Glycs?

All too often I read that because 1ml of 20mg contains 20mg (before Vaping) then that is justifiable as one pack of cigarettes. We don't know the yield from vapor, but we do know the yield from cigarettes is about 10% of the total Nicotine in the tobacco. A 10ml bottle could theoretically (and wrongly) be taxed the same as 10 packs of 20 cigarettes. That would end vaping instantly. Terrifying really.
