Been rebuilding my crown coils lately with mixed results. The trouble is normal cotton is too fiddly and fluffy. Anywhere I can get the sort of compressed thin stuff they use in the stock coils

I'm interested in this too...the cottons I have are too wayward for me...fluffy. Cant remember what they are but are always willing to come apart too easy.

Use the outer layer of muji/puff/KGD? peel the outer layer and fold the fluffy side back on itself, you get two smooth slightly tougher faces to wrap around the coil.

on the vrba for the rafale I just peeled the outer sheets off the muji as normal and cut the soft inner into strips before wrapping round it haven't used it yet but it looks good I know its not going to be exactly the same but this vid on vertical builds might be useful certainly if your rebuilding stock heads its should help a lot with respect to sizes

My muji has fluffed up out of control. I opened a pack of cotton bacon and its done the same. I'm going to have to sit on it to compress it again. I'm finding wicking hit and miss but hitting 8/10 times (not dry hits, I mean working well)

I know what you mean anon4, the occ coils have a denser outer layer around the main wick. might take some preparation to create that jacket, going by the Kanger and smok coils I have taken apart it's not a linear cotton wool. looks to be a rag paper type construction of short fibres. I'd be tempted to put a couple of pads in a phone book to see if pressing them helps make the cotton a little denser. lol, must to be the weather change, I have a few bits on my desk that have fluffed up.

Good results today. My coil was burnt up and it was my last one. Using tweezers I pushed it out through the top keeping it mostly intact, just some adjusting of the wraps required. I used a blowtorch lighter to burn the crusties off being careful not to heat the nickel parts because that's bad. Patiently wicked it and back in it goes, this one should vape like a new one
