I must admit that maths is not my strong suit, and I got it wrong. However it did get my old grey cells jumping around, so it was worth it. Can you get the right answer? So lets see who gets it right first. Do we have any maths geeks in our midst?

You need to add brackets around things to make it more clear! .... right off to get my dinner!

(9 - 3 / 1/3) + 1) = ? (6 /0.333) + 1 =19.18 I think or 9 -3 = 6 / (0.33+1)=4.5 Depends where the calculation starts really. or 9-3/0.33333+1= 0.9999099991 You need to know where the brackets are required.

Still no brackets so I'd assume: 9 - (3 ÷ 1/3) +1 9 - 1 + 1 = 9 ---------------------------------- [Edit to Add] : I've changed my mind after having something to eat 9 - (3 ÷ 1/3) +1 9 - 9 +1 = 1

Still no brackets so I'd assume: 9 - (3 / 1/3) +1 9 - 1 + 1 = 9 That is right brackets or not, multiplication and division take priority over addition and subtraction.

The answer is 42. Like everything else. (no, not really) 6 divided by 1/3 is not the same as 6 multiplied by 1/3. My answer = Paul Hardcastle

9 - 3 / ( 1/3 ) + 1
9 - 9 + 1 = 1
The answer is uno.

[Edit to Add] : I've changed my mind after having something to eat 9 - (3 ÷ 1/3) +1 9 - 9 +1 = 1 I agree with that, although it's made my brain hurt, and I was expecting a 'slap on the legs' from my primary school teacher (she was lovely BTW), but now i need a(nother) drink

From BODMAS its -1 ...innit?
9-3div1/3+1 aka a crap expression!
Div.... (3div1/3) = (3*3/1) = 9 or 9 thirds in numeral 3 Add... (9+1) Sub... (9-10) = (9-(+10)) which is (+9 -10) = -1 (negative priority)
