What every vaper in Queensland should do is openly vape zero nic, let the touts squeal their black hearts out to the authorities and then have the last laugh when the cops get so fed up with investigating innocent people that they stop bothering.

What I want to know is this;

The laws on vaping in Queensland are an abomination. We all agree, no doubt.

Now... who is Jim Mcdonald? No, really.... who is Jim Mcdonald?

You see, people making out that they are advocates for Vaping but align themselves with fake review sites and review sites that promote brands that are two or three times as expensive (starter kits etc) aren't really advocates for Vaping. They are part of the brain washing exercise that has been going on for 5 years, rarely questioned by the Vaping community.

I notice another doom and gloom article on Vaping360 by Jim Mcdonald discussing the equally outrageous plans Pennsylvania is adopting. It's all over ECF, and rightly so.

Anyway, in the mean time, I am calling these people to account for themselves. I call it mind-games.
Do Clive Bates, Peter Hajek and Dave Dorn promote vaping through fake review sites? No.

Ummmm - yeah, this one really caused a bit of a stir within the Oz Vaping community. Sorry if raising this older thread is frowned upon.

Just a few extra comments relating to this one:

* For the record, smoking is still very much legal in all states of Australia. In fact, the Govt gains much tax revenue from the sale of cigarettes. Truth of the matter is they simply cannot afford for smokers to all give up smoking.

* Cigarettes are freely sold in MANY locations - petrol stations, supermarkets, corner stores etc - to anyone over 18 years old.

* Nic - in the form of NRT (patches, gum and mist) is readily available from supermarket shelves amongst other places. With the recent introduction of "self serve" checkouts, there is effectively no control or restriction on the sale of those products - meaning children can easily buy those products unchallenged.

* Liquid Nic suitable for vaping has been scheduled by the Commonwealth Government as a "Schedule 7" poison since, oh, 2009 - but the Federal Govt does not deny it's import into the country. (Which is why Customs, a Federal agency do not yet stop it "at the boarder" when people like myself privately import it - although there is some whispers the ANTZ crowd are fighting this one too). The States each then decide what they do with items within each schedule. For Nic, each state has deemed it illegal to sell, supply or possess. There are exemptions to that blanket nic ban if you have a Doctors script covering your nicotine under Medical/Therapeutic Goods laws. Some folk actually do that with a couple of compounding chemists and a willing/agreable Doctor to write the script.

* The Jennifer Stone referred to in the linked document resides in Western Australia - and works for a local Forum and the Australian branch of the NNA.

* It was Western Australia that had the prosecution of the Vape Hardware Vendor (Vince of Heavenly Vapes) mis-using existing laws that ban toys and lollies that resemble cigarettes/smoking.

* Queensland has been particularly active against Vaping/vapers in the past. In years past there were several instances where they trapped nic imports through the post - but that was many years ago. There has been underground whispers of The Queensland Govt prosecuting some, err, suspect Vendors for supplying juice containing nic in recent times.

* Several Australian states are currently very active in re-drafting laws to expresse3ly include vaping under current cigarette laws. Such things as where you can vape (including in cars with kids) shop front displays, help from staff, sampling juices etc are all under scrutiny and threaten the viability of what few vape B&M's we have.

* To date no one I know of has heard of any individual being charged as a result of possessing nicotine liquids anywhere in Australia.


Just a few extras points from the Land Down Under - where vaping isn't exactly universally welcomed as a revolutionary smoking harm reduction product.
