Used to love reading chrisjw 's rants about tripping over the pensioners in supermarkets, and what he'd like to do to them! Link - Slow ShoppingBit of a trek for you though Chris for your weekly shop (IF you're watching)

I think it's a really considerate idea for those less speedy, more senior customers to have their own ' dedicated ' shopping times, where they feel able to shop minus the hurly burly so many of us are caught up with in our daily lives. Personally I always do self scan supermarket shopping so I can scoot round as quickly possible and get out! But for many elderly or disabled people a trip to the supermarket can be a real highlight for them and why not. We're all ( hopefully ) going to be old one day, maybe not so able bodied . . . . . so wouldn't it be lovely to feel that our custom was appreciated and valued, rather than being a nuisance.

Its not a bad idea, I now only use card payment petrol stations as I get in such a flap over filling up, locking car, and petrol cap then paying in shop as I kept dropping my keys/purse/ bank card and started fretting that staff might misread my clumsiness for drunkenness! So I find it a damn sight less stressful paying at pump. The concept in shopping would save me some worry but unfortunately I've taken to shopping at Aldi (because its so SO cheap and good quality) and they frown on any delay whilst they scan and THROW your shopping at you, they certainly don't like you packing as they expect you to repack over at side. I hate it! My M-I-L has copd and expects me to pack for her and carry shopping and take trolleys back, I know shes not in good health but neither am I! I feel like her pack horse - last week she insisted on an extra large bag of compost..... I actually could have slapped her getting it into boot of my car was almost comedic

I just want to know why they put the BWS section (beers, wines & spirits) at the furthest point in the store, and you have to walk past all this 'healthy' fruit & veg. I resist the greenery, and come back via the biscuit aisle.

I try not to go to mine at the weekends, when you get all the buggies (especially those Chelsea Tractor types) and uncontrolled kids running riot

My hubby used to fill up both cars so it was a shock to the system to have to buy petrol myself plus figuring out where it went etc. Don't ask me about the tizz I got myself into trying to open the bonnet the other day and fill up the windscreen wiper thingy

The old fogies could always go shopping in the middle of the night in the 24 hour stores when it will always be quiet, it's not as if they need to be up early for work or anything is it Raffles

When my Mum was still alive she used to ask me to do a supermarket shop once a month, although she loathed the places. Oh My Days, what a long drawn-out process that used to be! What's worse, she preferred Morrison's, not my favourite store. She would study labels, change her mind 5 aisles later, go back to the same product three times before deciding that she didn't need any after all, and the fruit and veg were given a thorough prodding and poking before purchase. I certainly needed a fag after all that, but although I was in my late 40s, she still didn't know that I smoked so I had to wait until I had dropped her off, unloaded and put away all the shopping and inevitably cut the grass, or painted the house, or some other intolerably long task. How I wish I had been vaping then, it would have saved me all my grey hairs

Just remember all those moaning about the older generation Tomorrow, you will be a day closer to being the same Tease-smiley As for me I know the best model of walker for running over feet at high speed I know the best seats on the age concern ambulances And I'm kissing up to the new generation of helpers, so I get better treatment in about forty years

I now shop solely on-line.
I have my 'frequently bought' list, which helps me tremendously to recall most of the items I buy.
I don't think I would manage too well in a store before peeps started their tutting ( I have dementia - I'm not deaf yet )

OH stop it, I work in one all bloody day, and believe me the old ones are not the worst by any means and don't get me started on folk who lift things then dump them elsewhere, I mean why would you lift something from the frozen section and leave it next to the eggs.

I'm quite an organised shopper in the supermarket - up one isle and down the next - miss an isle when there's nothing there I want and never have to double back ..... my girlfriend on the other hand ..... in through the door and miss the first three isles cause she's trying to remember something, then forward one isle, double back and go round the first two isles twice, off to the second from last then back to the first isle cause she's forgotten something I'll tell you, its a mystery tour every time we go in

Nowt worse than walking round a supermarket when its busy, i must admit i start losing the plot. I'm not the best person to be around when things wind me up and trust me lots of people grabbing at food and getting in my way winds me up very quickly along with the bloody screaming kids in there.
