I hear you djs but apart from TC , have mods moved on that much? Maybe I've been unlucky with the duribility of the ones I've bought? Bought two new mods at Christmas and will be chuffed if they last untill April, is that acceptable? Why can't I just buy a quality vw twin mod for under £100 and get a decent guarantee with it? I'm a carpenter by trade and although I don't buy tools from Lidl, they give a decent guarantee with their stuff. Why can't mod manufacturers? Thinking about switching to mechanicals as am fed up of being rompted by all the hype.

Well personally I think I'll be sticking with DNA'S as they are so reliable and I can replace a screen for a few quid.you can buy one for around £100 and I don't think that's silly money for quality. Yes there is a power craze and I like around 100w and claptons but now I'm seeing 300w coils and I do think that's ridiculous. At the same time I couldn't be satisfied with 10-20w.I started low but have found my happy point, and whatever power people feel they need to be satisfied and keep off stinkies, then fair play I say. But 300w, blimey

On the other hand I have purchased numerous mods over the past 2 and half years in that time between the two of us we have had two failures.
1 Vamo and a Istick20, yet to have a Dna75 or 200/250 give any issue other than a sticky fire button which was fixed with @vapingbads help
Even the very cheap mods are proving to be pretty resilient considering some are costing less than £20

I am always at the cheaper end of kit, but of all the mods I've bought in almost 4.5 years of vaping, only 2 have gone in the bin (one Cloupor Mini that stopped regulating properly, and one Phimis woody that got too much juice onto the board loved that woody). I don't think if I totted up all my mod purchases they'd equal one Provari, and even after passing on several to other users, I still have 6 or 7 left in perfect working order (2 of which not used yet, but bought while on stupidly cheap (i.e. well under £20) offers... Don't take this the wrong way, but are you careful enough with them? I know my lad isn't, and he has a display of dead mods on his bookshelf... he rivals our own @johanino in the "I kill mods" stakes, sounds like you may be in the same camp?

When ProVape came up with their Business Model putting reliability and safety over price things were very different and ultimately they have made it a better market for all of us by setting high standards in those areas. They were a great company by all accounts, but increasingly niche and to make any eCig in the USA after the FDA regs you need to be sure you can shift huge numbers. It makes sense for them to call it a day (or move abroad) and I hope they made decent money out of it and managed to hold on to it because they were a positive company that helped move vaping on. I've never owned one, would have loved to when I started but they were too expensive and now I want different things from a mod.

Judging by what I hear at my local Vape shop it's a female thing. only fixed my radius the other day (it had crud on the contact point). My radius was off classies & such a good buy. Bit mad for me but still my ultimate fail safe mod. Yeah be prepared folks. Vaping as we know it cud change at any time

From HERE"Thought those of you not on FB might enjoy some thoughts from Tim Klerekoper, the former Director of Marketing for Provape: (with his permission) "I spent two years as the Director of Marketing for ProVape ... and I want to put this on the record. The company's commitment to quality and safety was unmatched. They literally never compromised on quality ... even when it meant it made it harder to compete in the industry. The dedication of literally every employee to vaping, and ProVape, and its products was inspiring. And there wasn't one day in the years I was affiliated with the company that they didn't have a desire to provide a product that could effectively get people off of cigarettes. They never wavered from that focus. I have well over 130 mods in my collection and only one company's products has the distinction of never needing repair ... and those were my ProVaris. I am deeply saddened by the news ... but they helped over a half million people get a real chance to quit ... and I truly believe they were ... and are ... the best this industry has ever had to offer. Dr. Tim Klerekoper And while I'm on a roll ... I also want to thank ProVape (especially its founders) for partnering with my company to design and build the ProVari Steath. The bulk of the profits from that model went to support police/fire/military chaplaincy. ProVape didn't need to do that ... but they did ... and there were many of you whose purchase of a Stealth provided funding to help soldiers and law enforcement officers, many of them working through issues like PTSD. It wasn't that they didn't want to help the sub ohm crowd ... it was that it took at least ten months for ProVape to produce a new model ... because of the testing (quality and safety) that every model they produced went through. (For instance, they didn't "tune" circuit boards to a certain wattage ... the board was designed and created for a particular wattage. I use mine with virtually no concern for my safety at all!) It has been estimated that China can produce a model from start to finish in less than a month. ProVape never compromised ... and yes, they paid a price for it ... but I admire their dedication to making a quality product. The letter truly was an ad agency employee coming up with a lousy idea and pushing "send" instead of "forward." Unfortunate, but not ProVape's fault. I left ProVape early in 2016 because my role as a Bishop of the Diocese of Seattle for the Church of England was expanding ... but I still have a deep appreciation of and a love for the company. I have never been a part of a company or worked with employees that were more dedicated to their product and their industry. But I do know that whereas people often complained about the price of a ProVari, I can tell you of an absolute certainty that the company made less profit than any other company in the industry. Why? They refused to compromise on quality and safety. It is impossible for me to criticize them for that. I was honored to work for the company ... and I'm vaping on a ProVari this evening as I write this. [IMG] After I left people asked me to give them the "real scoop." All I've ever been able to say is that I loved the company, it's owners and employees, it's products, and it's desire to get people off of tobacco. There's no dirt. Do I wish they could have been faster to get out products and respond to the market? Sure. We all wished that ... but they simply would not put their customers at risk even if it cost them market share. Some people call that stupid. I call that monumental. I truly wish every US company had that kind of dedication to their customers. The company wasn't perfect ... but not for lack of effort!"

But 300w, blimey I didn't know that jtc, for some reason I thought the board/screen for a DNA was about £70 to replace. I will have a look at some of those. I just have throwing things away I guess. Find it very satisfying to resurrect 'broken' things. Thanks for that mate.😀

Thank you for sharing izan . . . . words written from the heart, very touching - quite bought a lump to my throat. Out of all the clobber I own, this is my most treasured . . . . . a chrome plated V2 which I bought direct from Provape at a reduced price before they discontinued the finish because of plating issues. This so say is ' blemished ' I can find no flaws or defects whatsoever - a sign I guess of the very high standards that were set. I've never actually used it other than to test, most likely never will, but if I did in 10 years time I don't doubt for a moment it would work. Overly sentimental on my part perhaps, but the device represents a whole lot to me.

Never owned one and was never likely to given the nature of the product, but not good to see a well established vaping firm close due to daft legislation created on the back of bad science.

I've never owned a Provari.
But in the whole time I've been vaping, Provape/Provari have certainly held a big name for quality and reliability. They certainly had big numbers of very happy customers.
Whatever the full reasons for their demise, I find it sad such a big name in this young vaping industry closes down.

I was lucky enough to be given a Provari by a very kind person and will treasure it forever.
