Hi guys and gals. I'm now into my second week of vaping, I don't know if it's just my taste buds playing up, but not getting much in the way of flavour or kick from my vaping the last couple of days with the liquids I've been using. I've got BNH tabacco in the Zelos and a strawberry in the T18. I know my taste buds aren't brilliant at the best of times after years of smoking, but BNH that I've been vaping has been ok at 14w. I changed the coil for the first time yesterday thinking that may be the problem, but it hasn't really made much difference. I don't feel I've had the same kick out of the strawberry either, yet I was only thinking earlier in the week that I may try dropping from 18 to 12 mg in my juice.
I've played with different watts on the zelos from 10 to 14 with the 1.8 coil, but not so satisfied as I was. I'd be grateful for any suggestions

you sure you put a 1.8 ohm coil in it they come with 1.5 ohm coils so they would give a little more kick it might also be vapers tongue ie you have gotten use to the flavour so dont taste it as much any more dont worry its easy to fix just vape diff juice for a bit also the particles in vapour are much lager than that from ciggy smoke so it seems a lot harsher till you get used to it you may have just got past the bedding in bit as it were failing all that you need bigger better kit narr im joking avoid shinyitus at all costs lol just guessing but some of the more common reasons hope it helps

crag as decoy has said, sounds like vapers tongue! A common affliction that can strike at any time. Some swear by sniffing coffee grounds, others keeping a tank of strong menthol to vape. I use 3 devices and various flavours on the go and this seems to stop it happening too often, essentially most of us were smoking for years (in my case 45) and taste buds get shot through.

I'd concur with the above: Vapers Tongue! Keep several really different Flavours around you, I tried Flavours I didn'tlike (and knew I wouldn't) just to "jog" my tastebuds. Even now I can Vape a juice for months, then, suddenly. not be able to enjoy it any more I keep a Menthol type Juice, with stronger nicotine content than normal, and press on! You'll find away around this bump, honest!

Strawberry e-liquid (all/most?) tends to be rather gentle in my experience.

I've just checked and the Zelos did come with 1.8 ohm coil and a 0.7, and I bought some spare 1.8's. ( had to check for thinking I'd bought the wrong ones lol). I did load up with a different flavour before reading your reply and it has made a difference. Unfortunately it's a flavour I'm not too keen on that was recommended to me in a store. But it's cured the urge of a cigarette. I did read about somebody getting kind of bored of a flavour, so hence I had tobacco in one and strawberry in the other, but from what you have said, it seems I need a bit more variety. I don't think I'll have a problem with shinyitus, but think it may be a good idea to buy a couple of spare tanks for alternating flavours. I bought the t18 to get me going, and then also to be a backup for when I bought the Zelos. The zelos allows me to mess with different settings. But both bought after EE reading reviews. The only thing that concerns me about both models is reading batteries may only last 3-6 months. I didn't find vaping harsher than smoking, or is this vapers tongue telling me otherwise? I best go and dig that old coil out, being as if any have still some life left in it lol

Thanks for the info. I'd love to try something with more punch and will try the Red Astaire. Strawberry seemed a popular choice and one that I thought would suit me. I blamed the lack of taste on my taste buds after smoking for so long. I liked what taste was there, but found myself vaping more regular or for longer hoping to get more of it, Custard is another one that seems popular that I'm yet to try, I'm up for any fruity, or tobacco, recommendations to try but will probably need to stick with 18mg for the time being. I'm not too keen on menthol, as I could never smoke menthol cigarettes. Ive also tried grape but wasn't keen. It may have been the brand What a great forum this is

What a great forum this is It's not a race to lower nicotine levels... it's something that you may consider further down the line if you so wish. As you have only recently made the switch to vaping, the much more important thing is getting enough nicotine to satisfy any cravings and to allow your body to adapt. The risk is if you drop your nicotine at this early stage/too soon, cravings may get the better of you. Also +1 recommend trying something like Red Astaire (RA).

I think it was the strawberry that was making me think of lowering nic levels as I was vaping more with it trying to get the strawberry taste. A bit like trying to get my strawberry kick as much as my nic kick

I wouldn't worry too much about menthol in e-liquids crag, I loathed menthol fags but thoroughly enjoy vaping menthol flavour in juices.

A big +1 on what both Dave and Ken have said crag . . . . . I started on 18mg and stayed there for years, it's only been the last couple that I've lowered to 12mg. It's far more important initially to feel nicotine ' satisfied ' from vaping, which in turn will help stop you thinking of ciggies.

Hang in there crag. What they all said ^^^^^ Nic is not your enemy - don't be in any rush to cut it down. Maybe, mix up a "special" bottle of a higher strength nic ratio and hold it aside with one atty just for "those times". That's what I did and it helped me thro. *fingers crossed* for ya.

Thank you. I should be ok if I can get my flavours sorted out. I wasn't expecting Vapers tongue and thought I could get away with only a couple of flavours to start with.
Just about to order some Red Astaire, so are t-juice know for stronger flavour liquids?
