Hello everyone Are there people who had never been addicted to nicotine who became vapers? If so, do they choose e-liquids that contain nicotine for their own consumption? Thank you.

Yes. (For sure). Most choose Zero nicotine. Some choose some Nicotine. It's difficult to assess the numbers. Obviously people worry about kids doing it, but if they were destined to smoke, it's not so much of a worry. There is research and anecdotal evidence to suggest Nicotine is not as addictive as we thought. The tobacco companies love to tell everyone how addictive it is...but many people believe it is a combination of Nicotine and other chemicals in cigarettes. The tobacco companies have been engineering more addictive cigarettes for over 40 years but the Nicotine (as a substance) has not changed. I think there's a clue there as to what has been going on.

Are you sure nicotine is addictive, I'm not convinced it is ! Hello I live in France and the specialists I've seen here or read about claim nicotine is: - toxic (there even are death skull pictograms on the French flasks of e-liquids with nicotine); - an addictive substance in humans. I've progressively discovered in this forum that those claims vary according to the country one considers...

I've progressively discovered in this forum that those claims vary according to the country one considers... Well. It is certainly toxic by any definition. Tobacco workers (slaves, one guesses) died handling wet tobacco crops and if you ate enough cigarettes or drank enough liquid containing Nicotine, you would die. Sadly, death by e-liquid has happened. It is also difficult to escape the basic principle that Nicotine is addictive. Allow enough of it into your body and your body will get used to it and then demand it. The same is true of even Tea and Coffee. Unfortunately, society uses the word Nicotine to describe what has mostly been known as Smoke. "Nicotine stains" on walls, in cars, on teeth. Vaping creates lower levels of Nicotine in the bloodstream

In the UK originally manufacturers also put the toxic symbol (skull & crossbones) on dilute nicotine. Pure 100% (1000mg/ml) certainly is very toxic, but once diluted to the levels found in e-liquid (18mg/ml is only 1.8% nicotine), according to some toxicologists, it is at most "Harmful".... the same class as washing up detergent! Some still use the toxic label, but in my opinion that is the incorrect classification.

Destined may not be the correct word. We do know, probably for a fact, that some young people have taken up vaping but not cigarettes and would most likely have become smokers - studying the situation from a statistical point of view.

I don't think there's much doubt it's toxic, that doesn't mean it's necessarily addictive though The funny thing is: in wikipedia's French page, they say it's a toxic alkaloid right in the beginning and display the death skull pictogram. The English page looks way more evasive and doesn't mention the death skull pictogram. In France, I've always learned nicotine was strongly addictive. I don't know what's the truth. I just know I'm glad I quit nicotine (tobacco) about 3 months ago. There's no way I actively absorb nicotine again, whether it's genuinely addictive or not. Thanks for sharing

Well, the root question is: is nicotine in vapour addictive to humans? I believe that nicotine in vaper is addictive, just like caffeine is in tea/coffee, although significantly less addictive compared to smoking (where lots of other alkaloids and chemicals are at work). I also suspect that the degree of addictiveness may vary between people. [ETA] Is nicotine bad for you.... now that's another question!

We have some that come into our cafe/vape shop that have not smoked, they prefer zero nic, but will use up to 3mg if no zero available in the flavours they want
