Thanks bioxx and thanks jeffc I also what the kiddie-winkies call sleep-overs but what I call during the day sleep-overs. Like half the morning, an hour after lunch and then an hour or two after tea. I hope these eventually stop, but I am in no hurry at the moment. Every so often along comes a job than is going to take my time and today was once of those days. IE, time to cut the front the lawn. No way out of it. The grass should have been cut before I went into hospital and now it required five empty loads instead of the normal two loads to cut it. Anyways, it is done now, although I will probably pay dearly for it tomorrow. At least I know now that I have to take my time, take lots of rests and drink loads of fluids.

The one bit that worked out well regarding my stay in hospital was the Vaping bit. Okay, the first 24 hours was hard, but on the second day a nurse took me to the front door (where all the smokers gather) and quite a few vapers as well and I was allowed to vape out there. Between my mumbled conversation's I managed to convinced the nurse that I could be trusted to look after my ecig. She, in turn suggested that as my mod did not produce any vaper that I would be better off just having sly drags in the toilet as an when the necessity arose.
I only vape about 3ml a day at 24mg, so the exhales are minimal and the as the flavours are Liquorice and Caramel (Royal Tobacco) there was no lingering smells left over. Later in the stay, I also got hold of so Spearmint and Menthol and I used this at night while the Royal mods were on charge.
All in all my vaping worked well and although the only one in our 6 bedded Ward that vaped, apart from the one Nurse that saw me originally, I do not think anyone else knew that I vaped. If they did, no one said anything about it.

While emails and topics are difficult, but given enough time, I can usually get by and make myself understood.
However today I had to make a phonecall regarding some roofing work I needed done to get my shed reroofed. Making polite conversation whilst when what is coming out your mouth is complete gobblygook says a lot for the contactors, especially as he does not know that I have had a stroke and when I spoke to him a few months ago, everything was perfectly normal and we understood each other and what we wanted from each other.
Me thinks that over the weekend, I will have to go this all again, with the wife, several sheets of paper, lots of scrawling about and confused mumbling to try to get some sense written down that she can explain to him just what I require.
Either that or I get his email address and start talking to him with emails.
I never realised talking could be so important nor utterly devastation if you lose it.

I feel for you lobeydosser...although my problem is different...I struggle to find the right word. My vapemeeters laugh because I call the dog's beef jerky 'T-Rex'...& I cannot help it.

Sorry I have not been around for a few days, but I seem to be going through a rough patch at the moment. Trying to communicate with people is proving difficult. When I try to say the words in my head, they appear to come out (reasonably???) sensibly, but when I say them in real life, IE, actually talking them, they are a complete jangle of mispronounced nonsense.
I have had the added pressure of well indented relations who seem hell bended on trying to invite me to social events so that I can "practise" speaking to people. They are in effect trying to get me to run before I can walk.
I have come through this reasonably unscarred compared to some folks that I have seen and for that I am deeply grateful. My inability to communicate the spoken word is more of a frustration than a disability. One, that I hope will get better in time.
Even the dog gives me the odd puzzled look when I give a gobblygook command. On the upside, he still can't SIT at 3 feet away, but can still hear a packet Crisps being opened, through 4 door's away, upstairs, in the bedroom.

Well while everyone else was scrabbling about hunting for last minute bargains on the Web, poor ol' me was enduring two sessions of Nursey Lectures.
The first at the local hospital where I was introduced to what would become an on-going session on Speech Therapy. Yesterday was all about getting to know me and how much I knew and did not know with regards my communication skills. Also how much I retain from one session to the next. I often lose words in a short time.
The afternoon session was by a Stroke Nurse from the main hospital and that was a full breakdown of everything that had happen to me from being taken into hospital to the present day. Also what I can expect to happen in the future. Also a breakdown of the new pills I am on plus a blood test. This interview will be followed up by more of the same plus clinics at my main local hospital.
Although I got little information when I first came out of the hospital, I are certainly making up for it now and I was tired today from yesterdays lectures that I spent most of the day asleep.
I reckon I would be better off learning a new language than learning to speak the old one all over again!!!!

Glad to see you are doing well. At least your typing words come out just fine my end, so something is going okay. You will get there, it just takes time. You are doing great.

Thanks Bobsbeer Unfortunately it takes me 45 minutes write out what everyone else takes a few minutes to write. Between gobly-gook spelling and figuring out which spelling the Spellcheck meaning is the right one, some of my topics look more like a sagas then questions. Hopefully I will someday be able to look back on these and have a good laugh.
