Shitty by name, shitty by nature.
I've nearly pulled the trigger on a Drag a few times but couldn't get over the logo, two resin panels and I'd probably own one. It won't be happening now!

Damn that is shady, shame as they do really make a great board, no buying Voopoo products from me though.

It's definitely not good. I was looking forward to getting one, now, I don't see myself buying either version should both become available. Again, I have my reservations about what has been said in the video, as there are always two sides to a story. On the face of it, looks like Voopoo were quite happy to let Tony B make a right Pillock of himself by parading the device at ECC knowing they were gonna pull the plug on supplying the board. What I can't understand is this :- IF Vandy Vape had a perfectly good board (and I stress IF) why were they persuaded to ditch that in favour of the Gene chip from Voopoo ? IMO, there is more to this and Tony B has given his account, which is only what he wants the public to know to try and save face. Another five star advertisement for a Chinese pre order..................................NOT! Maybe I need to stop being as cynical.........................then again, maybe not.

It's a very sad story and the guy has been seriously screwed over.....although being screwed over by a Chinese manufacturer isn't perhaps that surprising Equally, I guess most of us have bought clones or copies in one form or another and the consumer always wants cheap... Maybe it highlights the non-relationship between innovation and mass production....

I'm sure I saw a boxed Pulse 80 in the window of a local vape shop last Friday. In fact I know I did as it quite clearly mentioned the gene chip on the box and I didn't know anything about the whole Vandy/Voopoo thing before then.
I wonder what it actually was and where they got it from. Looked like the usual Vandy Vape retail packaging, not that I'm an expert as I don't own any of their gear.

Shame, its the mod squonking has been waiting for. Small (other than being trendy 20700 oversize) regulated and cheap. Personally Id never heard of the gene chip till now. EDIT: forgot to add had to look up the voopoo drag and its a regular box mod so ive no idea hoe they can say a squonker is a rip off.

They are claiming the resin panels are a rip off of their resin panels just because they have the same style of swirl pattern. Pulse 80W Drag You can see from these photos the top two panels in the Pulse photo are indeed identical colour combos and same style of pattern as two of the Drag mods, it's not a ripoff though both companies just happened to use the same factory to produce the resin panels. The panels themselves are entirely different shapes.

Thanks for this, striker42, interesting. If what he says is true - not a very bright move to give them the 15% rise in the first place - sounds like they were unwise enough to base a decision to expend a lot of development time and money on a verbal agreement (which are not worth the paper they are written on....). Seems odd to me but maybe not having contracts is how they do it the vape industry. Hard, I know, but while trust is important in business, blind faith without a plan B is a good way of getting burnt fingers! I find Voopoos claims of plagarism highly suspect!

Most of the big names in the reviewing world are supporting Tony B and Vandy Vape in this saga. Wonder if Voopoo try to make it right with the other party ? Don't think so myself. The Voopoo statement is poor and contradictory, but IMO, Tony B and Vandy Vape have been very naive on their end.

Disgusting behavior from voopoo in all of this mess. Have never bought anything from them and never will now, no matter how tempting it may be as they have no morals in business so why would they treat their customers any differently.
I hope there was a written contract between all parties otherwise that is a huge mistake on VV and Tony B's part and will be an expensive lesson.
As for the resin panels, there are plenty of other resin doors out there already that are similar in appearance but again, doors are totally different. Voopoo just trying to turn it around when they are obviously trying to steal the design from VV and create their own mod and get it to market first.
As for the VP statement, full of holes and discrepancies and I hope there is a contract in place for the chips and that VV pursue the matter further.
I was looking at buying one of these myself at some point when released and probably still will if the VV chip does the job.
Well done Voopoo, more like Voowho.

I sadly think the chances of a right of recovery against a Chinese company is very small.
In Beijing, the usual Americanism of "See you in court, buster and I'm gonna sue you for a billion, squillion dollars for just looking at me" just won't cut any ice.
I think the rules of engagement using a Chinese supplier are very different - culturally and their pure willingness to just screw people knowing you can't do anything about it.
The next time a 300 quid super duper atty hits the market, designed exclusively in someones bedroom in Kentucky, the first question will still be "When can I buy a 10 dollar clone from FT?" - I don't think this example is much different.....

Seem to be in a minority here. Tony claimed to have had a contract with Voopoo, it seems he made that up. If you get a quote for a product it is not normal to expect the price to be the same two months later. Vandy Vape started taking orders before they had the chips... perhaps they needed the cash from advance sales to pay for the chips. But in any case, takng vapers money before you have a product is dodgy practice. Apparently they haven't told vendors yet, to stop taking pre-orders.
If anyone should be taken to court it's not Voopoo.

Especially in the chip market, I'm told the price of memory goes up and down by wide margins very frequently, and you can actually see this when you are buying computer products. If they have not told vendors and have taken pre-orders, well, that is just not on.
