If you're looking to quit completely (and by the tone of your post, that's what I pick up), then The Allen Carr method is probably your best bet - and no, they won't even consider a "backup" plan. If you choose to go the e-cig route, then you will not be quitting your addiction - you'll simply be "changing brands" to one which carries with it a far lower risk of damage and ill-health. Many e-cig users have discovered that their anaesthetists consider their e-cig usage not to be a problem, so you can follow that path with confidence. In other words, there's no need to quit, you can simply change brands to e-cigs. In that case, most folks around here are going to suggest you look at an eGo-alike, which will give you the best experience for the money, in many people's view. Enjoy! Hi All, Another confused newbie here : ) I decided to buy an ecig to help me stop smoking. I didn't realise I would need to do a mini degree first to understand what to buy. Can someone please instruct me on what to buy...the cheapest, most efficient, most ladylike option? I don't really want to spend more than around £30 for now but if it works for me I can add more later. I smoke roll ups - 15-25 per day (20 years) but have to stop this igrained habit before I have surgery in a months time. I've tried everything and just cant seem to give up. I have a voucher to do the alan carr clinic as well and I know they wont be encouraging replacements but I thought I would use this as a wind down to the clinic and maybe a backup if I can't give up completely. So I need to get my kit asap so I can cut down on my cigs before the clinic. Please can someone give me a shopping list (cheap please). By the way...a lot of people here seem to really enjoy your vapesticks. Are you all addicted to them now? ThAnKYou

Hi Spacecadet , welcome to this forum, whatever you buy will be cheaper and better for you than the roll-ups.

Well, i've been looking about and I am struggling to find a Ego kit (preferably with Stardusts/Visions) for £30 most that sell for that price seem to be out of stock. with this borne in mind I think the Kit that Perpetua has in stock would be your best bet at the moment. Unless anyone else can find one?

Hi spacecadet and a warm welcome
if i was in your shoes of wanting to pack in the fags then i would take the e-cig route. changing brands to e-cigs is surprisingly easy specially if you have tried and failed with other methods. once you are vaping you will probably still have an 'addiction' to nicotine or the action of smoking but i find its so much easier to control. i can if i want go for hours without vaping and not have the slightest frantic panic like i used to with cigarettes.

Hi, Thanks for all your warm welcomes. You are a lovely bunch. You are selling ecigs well. Are you all e-cig manufacturers?! I looked at the riva yesterday and saw that it was pretty massive so I guess I am just going to have to adapt to the size, though if its possible to get a smaller one with good function that would be even better. In terms of eventually getting off nicotine, could I put the lowest dose in to help me wind down from nicotine or should I start with a high dose? Have other people managed to wind down the nicotine levels? I'm still a bit lost because when I looked at the link to the kit I don't know what any of it means!

Spacecadet the confusion will pass, just keep asking questions and eveyone here will help. There is e-juice available in a wide range of nic strengths... most people start off at a level that will match their current smoking habit (in your case probably 18-20mg) and then reduce it over a period. There are even people who vape at zero nic now as they like the action of vaping and the flavours even without the nic.

i started off a bit confused but i just asked questions and folks here patiently helped a hell of a lot. i started off on a pretty high nic dose to match the G.V. rollies i smoked and 6 weeks in i've dropped to 18 which is a step in the right direction plus i feel better physically. you want a setup that wont run out of power during a working day and Perpy's ego for £35 is a bargain, i'm surprised its on offer still. its a great bit of kit to get ya on your vaping journey. i just wish i came here for advice first before i blew £80 on the piece of crap i first bought

Spacecadet and I hope you sort your ideal kit very soon ! Regarding liquid , I was advised to buy small 5ml sample type bottles which allows you to test the different strengths and flavours and by doing this you will soon discover whats suits you best and you wont have to fork out a great deal along the way. Then once you're settled you can buy larger bottles of the liquids you like. Andy

Lol no, none of us are e-cig manufacturers - or sellers, unless you see "SUPPLIER" under the user name on the left of any post Please do have a look at the thread that Karma linked to to help you understand the basics of e-cigs

thats my aim beeper but I'm also not the most disciplined of people and know how hard it is for me to miss even one of my 20 cigarettes (impossible). Lumps/cancer scares/surgery are adding some extra incentive though this time.
