I knew all the reasons I should give up smoking. The cough, the cost, the yellow fingers and teeth, the stinky clothes. I had tried a few times over the years but never with much success. The reason I failed was that I loved smoking - the way it provided a break between tasks, or a reward after a job done, or just the ability to sink into my own little world for a couple of minutes to dream or think of nothing at all.
I got put on a three-day week as a cost saving measure at work, and knew I needed to reduce the cost of my smoking (not give up you notice). So I bought a look-alike and stuck it in my fag packet, intending to use it every second or third fag. I found myself using it more and more so bought a Skycig kit and before I realised it I was forgetting to smoke the fags I still had. I had become a vaper!

My story is very similar to everyones. I knew I needed to stop smoking, but I had failed to quit so many times in the past. I thought that vaping could help me cut down and would also be a way of 'smoking' where smoking is now banned. I didn't even dare think about vaping replacing smoking completely for me. A couple of weeks down the line and I was only smoking 2 rollies a day, so decided to go a day without smoking! That one day has now turned into 6 months I also never told anyone this time that I was stopping smoking, I just said that I was trying to cut down a bit, so there was no pressure

Saw an online ad for the Skycig kit at a knockdown price and thought it was interesting. It arrived, I tried it and was amazed. I was a 40 a day smoker and my last remaining packet of cigarettes lasted me 3 days. Before I'd finished that pack I was determined never to buy another cigarette. For a couple of weeks I still craved a real cig occasionally but the e-cig kept me on the straight and narrow. Like others, I'd never have found information and suppliers of other kit without forums like this.

Started smoking again after quitting for over 5 years. Stress played a large part in this. Anyhow, I could always smell the stink on me, and this got me down too - but when I found AAEC after trying to figure out where I could smoke in T5 at Heathrow, I thought I'd give e-cigs a go.
At first I was sceptical - so it was a 'cheap' 10motives from Tesco to start with. Tasted absolutely foul, but the vaping part was remarkably similar to smoking. Based on that (and the juices paraded on this forum), I got a starter kit with basic 510 batteries.
That actually did the trick, and I quit smoking immediately. Wanted more flavour from my vape, so quickly progressed to an Ego-T setup that provided exactly that. Then the Arry tank arrived, Lavatube, Provari and the rest is history (along with my bank balance! JOKING).
Seriously though, I've saved almost £1.5k to date, and of that I would imagine I've spent around £500 on vaping - which makes a £1k saving (and remember, this is based on pre-budget ciggie costs).
I can smell, taste food, the nicotine has helped me lose weight, along with an extremely improved management of my type 2 Diabetes.
All in all, and along with the help of a large number of people on this forum, vaping has quite literally turned my life around. Yes, I know that sounds extreme, but I'm a lot happier for it, and healthier too.

I wanted to give up for my health but i enjoyed smoking too much, so patches and gum were never going to work for me. Gave it a go thinking i wouldnt like it, but never touched a cig since And the saving money part apeals to me very much, being a tight scotsman

I think I'd throw up now if I had a cigarette. It would be great to hear why all the sellers started vaping.

I tried vaping nearly 3 years ago, about the same time as Chrissie. The ones available needed too much attention, refilling, recharging and I couldn't be bothered with all that.( I still have everything ) I always knew that this would be the way I would stop smoking one day ( best thing since sliced bread) About 6 weeks ago I realised I had a healthy but wobbly tooth ( due to shrinking gums) this panicked me, I went on champix, ( personally the worst thing I have ever done) stopped taking them after 1 week. I came straight here got the best advice ever for what to buy. my 1st month without a cigarette came yesterday. The longest I have even been in 35 years without a cigarette.
So a wobbly tooth did it for me !!

My 6 year old daughter asked if i would goto heaven because i smoked , as on the tv she saw an advert and the boys dad was ill from smoking. And that was it i stopped and started vaping, ive explained to her that now its just like water and she doesnt need to worry. She even said to the missus we could get daddy a new water pipe for his birthday , i taught her how to spell provari Was very upsetting to think she was worried about my becoming ill or worse. She even told her friends that id given up smoking bless her! Th i think that helped towards making it so easy to give up the stinkies

I didn't want to give up smoking, I loved it, love the taste of good tobacco's, a nice pipe, good cigar, big fat stuffed full of baccy rollie and so on, but now I'm in my forties and have already had one fight with cancer I could feel the effects of it more and more, plus the smell of it on my clothes and in the house / car and the stains on fingers etc not to mention the fact of feeling more and more ostracized from society because I honked like an ashtray. So I knew it was time to pack in but the will power to do so was severly lacking, then I discovered vaping and wish from arseholes to breakfast time I'd discovered it years ago. I doubt that I'll ever save any money by vaping as I like my shiny's but hey, no brown lungs and no stink and feeling healthier makes Mart a happy chappy so balls to the money side of things, can't spend it when your six feet under. To use the words that a none smoking friend did, "Your still and idiot, but your a more sensible idiot"

After 35 years of smoking I still enjoyed it even the 40 + a day habit and the cost didn't deter me . I became a tad worried about my health when it got to the stage that I needed around 15 minutes every morning for a coughing fit to subside and within that 15 minute period I would smoke 2 cigs and eventually the coughing stopped. after a few weeks of this I realised I was a mess through smoking. So after a full weekend of googling I eventually found UKV , registered , read a lot and asked a lot of noob questions , 1 week later I was the proud owner of a Janty Ego kit 2 weeks later I stopped the cigs altogether . That in itself was quite a task because only 18 months ago the kits came with a couple of atties and carts I envy the newbies starting on their vaping path , simply because with the new technology it is so much easier to switch and with some of the kit a lot more pleasant experience. So I have my health back at last , except maybe for a bit of a belly now because I eat like a horse compared to when I was smoking. Saving wise , I guess I have spent about £1K on vaping gear , but as you can see from my sig I have saved quite a bit , still nothing in the bank but at least we had a holiday this year and the house has had some major work done to it .

Smoked for 30 years when I saw e-lites for sale when I went to buy my ciggies. Thought I must give that a go, it'll combine my love of electronic gadgets with smoking. Cool! OH wanted me to give up, I wasn't so keen, I enjoy(ed) it too much. I used the E-Lites for a couple of weeks and cut my pack a day down to 5 or 6. Then I found this place. Several hundred pounds later I haven't had a real fag since my first kit dropped through the door 10 weeks ago.
Fags smoked - zero, Gadgets bought - plenty, money saved - naff all. Couldn't be happier about it!
