My cat is over 18 years of age Wish I could take them, but I'm too far away and my elderly kitty dosen't tolerate new members at all. I'd have a house full of cats if I could...maybe one day in the future

In al honesty and all kidding aside ....only take on what you think you can handle it would not be fair on them and the rest of your treasures otherwise if you dont think you can care for them or love them as much as the rest ...or if the finatual burden is too much DONT do it .......I am sure that whether you take them or not they will find a wonderful home. Somehow I opened this thread at page one and have gone thru all the wonderful pet pics before arriving at an almost-bombshell - 2 more tats for Chrissie And I've got NONE But there isn't even space for a litter tray at the mo Can you cope with the practicalities of 9 cats, Chrissie, in your little cottage, no matter how lovely they all are? And as the two new ones are not youngsters, there's the expense to think of. And I know you'd never stint them! If you don't take them will you worry about where they could end up? What about breeding a litter or two to help with the upkeep of the whole family? Oh yes, that's the answer, there's nothing stopping you now scylla xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx PS: Coincidentally, I was just reading about the dreadful cat-in-wheelie incident here when my brother popped in and said "What do you think happened to that woman? 2 years in jail... nah, £250 fine". Huh! scylla x

Chrissie pet Do you need the extra responsibility ? Have you got the time or the money for that extra responsibility ? Do you worry a lot when something goes wrong with your cats ? Do you like to go out sometimes and would an extra two cats stop you doing this ? Can you afford the extra vet bills when something goes wrong ? Would it upset the routine of your other seven cats if newer older cats appear on the scene ? Have you got the extra time necessary to give to them ? Just a few things that come to mind Chrissie but like most cat lovers you may not listen. Dont do it if there are any doubts as you may regret it. Just my opinion of course Lets call it the voice of reason. At the end of the day Chrissie you will do what you want as we all do as life is full of choices but it also has consequences for those choices. I do hope that my answer is not too boring as to me its just honest and with the best of intention. On a different note, I have a neighbour here, just round the corner and he has 30 cats I think he is nuts and so do the other neighbours but he loves them to bits. Where do you stop though ? Ken. ((( Chrissie ))) x

I love you all so much And yes, I really have thought long & hard about all the things that especially James, Kenny & Scylla have pointed out. All of your replies have helped me so much - thank you Going to answer Kenny's well thought out questions in particular (not that other's thoughts weren't well thought out - far from it ) Chrissie pet Do you need the extra responsibility ? No not really but...:D Have you got the time or the money for that extra responsibility ? Yes & sort of - so much more spare money compared to when I was such a heavy smoker Do you worry a lot when something goes wrong with your cats ? Yes, but that's me, I worry about everyone & everything I care about.Do you like to go out sometimes and would an extra two cats stop you doing this ? No, I'm a bit of a hermit, so not too worried about the difference 2 extra cats would make on this score.
Can you afford the extra vet bills when something goes wrong ? At the moment, yes. I've just received a small inheritance & Mike would love the idea that I would put it aside to make sure I had the funds to take in these 2 older cats Would it upset the routine of your other seven cats if newer older cats appear on the scene ? This is the real difficult one & what I've worried about the most. I've never had a problem introducing new additions before & Maine Coons are exceptionally easy going cats, but have to admit it is always a worry]Have you got the extra time necessary to give to them ? That's an easy one - Yes! :Just a few things that come to mind Chrissie but like most cat lovers you may not listen. [ color=Red]Who me? Dont do it if there are any doubts as you may regret it. Just my opinion of course Lets call it the voice of reason. At the end of the day Chrissie you will do what you want as we all do as life is full of choices but it also has consequences for those choices. I do hope that my answer is not too boring as to me its just honest and with the best of intention. Far from boring Kenny, I know you have put a lot of thought into this bless you On a different note, I have a neighbour here, just round the corner and he has 30 cats I think he is nuts and so do the other neighbours but he loves them to bits. * Moves next door to Kenny's neighbour * Where do you stop though ? At 9 - honest Ken. ((( Chrissie ))) x
Really tired, so hope my replies have come across in the way I meant them to do so Think you have all most likely guessed my heart has won over (especially after the long telephone conversation with the heartbroken breeder this evening). I'm going over tomorrow lunchtime to collect Jasmine & Sasha

My first male cat, I christened Sasha (it's short for Alexander). I'll say no more though cos it was very sad. Got to admit (to quote a fond phrase of Chrissie herself) I'm thrilled to bits. All the more pics for us Drive carefully, whoever's driving scylla x

Well Chrissie you did say that you wanted someone to say no that you shouldn't take them on lol so I did. I knew your heart would rule your head and I'm also sure by your answers that its the right thing for you to do. They are going to be two very happy and contented moggies I think and you will probably be all the happier for taking them in. I love happy endings. Ken.

I know I'm only a newbie.. Always!!! What are you saying?? Newbies are our lifeblood and our joy Of course your horsey is lovely but I've never had a horse - I rode one once and he ran away with me, under a blinking tree too So although I kinda love them I don't have a bond As for Kira - mwah mwah mwah, what a face! completely gorgeous Thank you so much for posting your pics, and let's have more if possible. scylla Edited cos I spelt "rode" "road"

Ken, you were right, my heart did end up ruling my head But thanks again for all the thought you put into those questions. They really did make me think Always, as Scylla says, thank you so much for posting your lovely pics of Spangle & Kira. They are both gorgeous Thanks Lolli Well I arrived home with them a couple of hours ago & put them both in my bedroom. Sasha was a tad daunted to begin with but soon started to investigate while I sat quietly on the bed. Excuse the litter tray in the pic She then jumped up on the bed & purred & head butted me while I was stroking her Jasmine is much more nervous. But she also started to investigate. And then jumped up for a short time & purred while I was strocking her.
