At this time I'd like to kick joe public in the nuts for causing this unnecessary mayhem.
When you do, please wear steel cap boots.
The world has gone completely crazy. It's really getting to be like one of those zombie movies.
++ I went looking for some Iso Alcohol to try mixing up a hand sanitiser brew. We've a couple of infirm neighbours who can't get commercial sanitiser now. (cancer treatment suppressing their immune systems) But all places I could think of for the key alcohol ingrediant are sold out. *sigh*

We shop online every week at Tesco, book a slot Tuesday for delivery Thursday. Last week tried to book a slot and nothing available until Saturday. I’m now booked at my usual time on a Thursday for the next 4 weeks 👍 Here - all on-line shopping & deliveries with the major supermarkets has been cancelled. They've simply have ceased the service completely - at least for the time being. Too many were hitting it up as a means to avoid the mass queue for the TP isle.

I hear ya Perpetua . Mucho empathy from here about your plight - and that of your co-workers. The blitz on supermarkets here was at the stage you describe early/mid-last week. Last weekend saw numbers of metro folk drive to outlying towns to raid shops of all. I mean everything. In one case I heard of a group who chartered a bus to take 'em on their pillage and ransack jaunts. Staff are being harrassed badly - "when is xxx coming in", "but I'm a regular" and so on. Some places have had to employ guards to protect the staff bringing in fresh pallets of TP. It's crazy and defies comprehension. ++ And there's going to be a LOT of economic fallout from all this. Many jobs will be lost and I dare say a lot of businesses will be unlikely to recover. For simple starters: who'd currently want to be a shareholder of an ocean going cruise liner? Or be one of their employees?

Yeah, stripped supermarket shelves is now the new normal here too.
Everything out, or very short. Even fresh stuff.
Local big name supermarkets have just setup a "old and infirm" only shopping hour betwix 7 and 8 am - so they have a chance before the crazy mass are allowed in after 8 am.
It's nuts. Completely crazy how "normal" folk are so over-reacting.
Like other places around the globe, many normal things are getting canned - all big gatherings. Theatre, sports, conventions and such. Talk of the need for harsh triage to decide who gets treatment should the medical system get overrun. Scary that it may come to that.

Ummm - I had heard the mindless panic buying of bog rolls had progressed to both UK and US - this seems to confirm it. Scenes of fights between buyers over toilet rolls in supermarket isles are being reported here.
Crazy stuff.
Meanwhile I wanna coupla electronic bits and bobs for a new puter. Ordred same from China since they are not very common here. Feedback from suppliers and tracking suggests delivery might be some time before early 2029 ... iffn I'm lucky. *sigh*
++ Oh and a few drops of "essential oil" for a "pretty smell" can be added to the above formula for hand sanitiser if that's your wish. ISO alcohol - the base component is often available from hardware and electronic parts stores too.

Apols to cats, I know you are superior to us in every way. Not quite. Their lack of an opposable thumb means our two are still completely reliant on me to open their catfood tins. Their scheming and claws, however, ensure my compliance! == Seriously that PG in the air killing "bugs" is certainly something that ought have more current thought and attention. Whilst I'm very light-on with my vape PG nowdays, it sorta makes you wonder, doesn't it? Maybe passenger aircraft might use PG in their airconditioning, or if it could be re-introduced into hospital airconditioning and so on. Oz has just stated we are officially in a pandemic and set in motion all sorts of "virus activities". Nothing about adding PG (or any other anti bacterial/disinfectant) into the air in high risk areas such as places where large numbers of the public gather. Maybe it is not all that useful, donno I'm not "sciency", but surely it's worth some consideration?

Good news indeed. But as DiscoDes says, much damage has been done with the original publishing of the article. Some of the more recent activity, as reported in the more recent NNA roundups, shows there is now some push to ensure the media who ran with and quoted the original flawed study are now brought to account with the facts. Maybe something will come from that. One hopes, perhaps in vain, that this will make organisations less willing to trust and quote Mr Antz-Glantz in the future. ++ One muses just how the original study could think timing of heart problems and commencing vaping might not be significant? Doesn't take many smarts to wonder if chest pains/problems might prompt a smoker to consider their options.

... We were all trying teabags, straws and all sorts to get good wicking trying not to get a mouthful of juice every few hits Yes, I've read of some of those things. And I'm damned sure the frustrations would have annoyed me greatly - and, likely, pushed me away from vaping. That's why I've respect for you and those like you who pushed thro and helped the rest of us who followed. You talk about not seeing another vaper for months at a time in those early days ... well, I sorta wonder about the differences between our two countries, as I still will go months between seeing another vaper. Granted, I'm not in the big city anymore, no longer gathering outside the office with others in the "smoking lounges", but even so, on our recent roadtrip holidays, it was notable rather then usual to see someone vaping. Maybe I do not move in the right circles ? Anyway - that's all aside from the main point: congrats on making it thro! 10 years. Wow.

A decade? Wow! Hearty congrats marksixysix. You were one of those "early pioneers" of vaping. You'd have seen a lot of changes/improvements in gear over your time.

.... the number of times I've thought I was filming a wonderful doggy related moment with my phone, only to find I've been recording/taking pictures of the ground and my feet. hehehe - welcome to the club!
Blurry pics of fingers, camera straps, feet and such are ALSO very possible with a real, proper camera !

Donno much about the latest and greatest Perpetua, nor nothing about your shopping options. My very oldie Cannon digital camera (IXUS 60 - prolly 12 or more years old) suits me just fine. It's the one that took the lions share of all my travel pics over in my Roadtrip thread. Pic quality is pretty OK - even blown up on my big screen TV. However, the one point I did wanna make was the same as made by snow - having a separate view finder in the camera over and above the standard "led display" screen. That one single thing makes a LOT of difference to me when taking shots out in the sunlight. And is the one thing that seems to be missing on so many modern camera's. That said - so many folks do not bother with a camera nowdays, rather using their smartphones. AND the techie specs of the modern smartphone camera's do look impressive. *shrug* I'm not a smartphone person ...
