Just use the diameter of the internal core wire & ignore the outer wrapping wire. The outer wire is thinner and of higher resistance so the power goes mainly through the core. At least that's what I was told ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Nothing like jumping in the deep end, my attempt at dual fused 24g/32g claptons. They come in at 0.13 ohms and generate lots of clouds. The velocity does get a tad hot though, think I need to try a single coil version ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Pleased for a first go though. ![](http://s27.postimg.cc/knyhyu4k3/IMG_1321.jpg)

I have about 6 drippers at the moment, and have found the velocity style clone from Fastech to be the easiest to build on. Also like the Mutation X V3 for the same reason, plenty of good ones out there, although some are more fiddly than others to get going. Sure someone with more experience than me will be along soon

I dont have a subtank reefcat (Shame on me). I can tell you that I also am a lung hitter, and have been using my new Goblin tank today and there is not much difference in airflow, which surprises me, as the goblin has 2 air holes of about the same diameter as the monster's 1. Just did a test for you, and full lung hit took 5 secs on Goblin and 5 secs on monster. Lol nothing like a personalised testing session, many thanks, will pop a base in with my next FT order.

I've got a few KFLs and some Russian clones kicking about in a box. I like lung hits and lots of air now, so any idea how the airflow might compare to a subtank mini for example?

I put the coil in then put the barrel on with the holes in then feed the cotton through, cut the cotton leaving about 1 to 2 mm poking out and fan this out so it forms a barrier,, I've wicked mine this way three or four times this way very successfully. I am using the pre-wound nickel coils from FT and they work great. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/2973975/images/30yfTjP3QPippj7hX3wK.gif) Like many others it appears, still getting dry hits from time to time with the subtank, seemingly regardless of more/less cotton. Going to try feeding it through from the side, sounds sensible to me....

I've only tried in a dripper so far. I would imagine that if you put them in a tank you would need very good wicking to avoid dry hits. I still get dry hits in my sub tanks due to insufficient juice flow, think claptons would pull even more juice?

I was inspired to have a go at making my own clapton wire by this thread. Have a small pile of "free" wire spools that have been added to my orders over a period of time that were never going to get used. So I straightened some .41mm as per Rip Tripper, then wrapped it with .21mm. Guided the .21mm with the sleeve of a ball point pen. Had a couple of little wobbles with gaps and a double layer, but made enough for a couple of small coils. Now installed in the Plume Veil and vaping nicely. Gets through juice very quickly, but very rich and smooth, liking it very much, could be converted.
What I find interesting is that I can have widely varying power settings on the Istick 50 and the coils still perform. Hottish vape at 45 watts, but an equally good vape at 25 watts, no real difference in vapor production just a subtle difference in flavour.

Hot & sunny since May, we look forward to the occasional cloud ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Haven't seen any rain for a long time, everything's dry & brown at this time of year. Some rain would be lovely & help our water bills. Pools nice though ![*very happy*](//storage.proboards.com/2973975/images/uD_72Dmxi7jcIDWZ_KNH.gif)
