High, as my clearomiser from the Riva 1100 has seemingly packed up I would like to take it apart if it's possible. I seen a couple of videos of this but mine doesn't look quite the same as the one in the video. If it's a sealed unit then no worries, just curious that's all.

I've ordered 3 spares this morning along with an SD keyring maxi so that should sort me out for a while, in the meantime I'll have a go at doing the centre pin today to see if that helps and if I manage to break it then it won't be a problem as I've now got a spare coming.

Graham, have you tried raising the centre pin on the clearomiser? No I haven't tried that yet Chrissie purely because I'm just a wee bit frightened of breaking it - sad but true.

You broke the new toy, I'm telling Mum! Then I shall be in trouble twice - once for breaking the new toy and second for vaping in the first place - although vaping is better than smoking. Graham

Right lads, I don't think it's the battery centre pin thats been pushed down too far but I raised it a bit anyway, I put the clearomiser on and it worked - once , and then nothing again. It seems to be intermittent, I tested it with a meter but my knowledge of using one of those is virtually zero, but I think I did it right because when I touched the two needles together but when I put one needle on the centre piece and the other on the outside for the earth then I got no reading. Since typing this which has taken about 2 minutes I've just tried it again and I pressed the button once and it worked, I pressed the button again and it worked again, I pressed the button for the third time and it didn't work. ARRRG!!! I'll have a look at it tomorrow, it's enough to drive someone to smoking - only joking!! Graham

It sounds like a popped coil..... if you have a meter - do a continuity or ohm test on it.... a coil can pop anytime, it is a normal occurrence. Really? As quick as that? I only got it today. Graham

It appears that the clearomiser from my Riva 1100 has stopped working, it's definately not the battery as the battery works fine with the cartomiser. When I say it doesn't work I mean it's not heating up, if I press the battery button there was normally a little noise from the juice heating up but there is no noise at all now and of course, no vapour. I have filled it up twice today, the first initial fill then later on a top up as it was about half through and reading the instructions it advices you to top up rather than letting it get too low which is understandable. It was a few minutes after the top up that I noticed the problem, it heated up for a few times of vaping but then nothing, I left it and checked the battery, I put it on charge just to see if it was that but while it was doing that I swapped the other battery over to see if it was that but that wouldn't work either so it's definitely something to do with the clearomiser. Have I screwed it up somehow? I can't see how I can as there doesn't seem to be much to screw up, there's no juice in the centre core, I've cleaned both the battery connections (although I knew they were OK) and also cleaned the underside of the clearomiser where it screws to the battery - I can't think what else to do to be honest. I have also drained the juice from it and flushed it through with hot water (not boiling) as per the instructions and will allow to dry overnight. Basically - HELP!! What have I done!! I've still got the cartomiser to vape on so not all is lost, I'm more worried that I've broken something somehow. Graham

£275, not much if you say it really quickly To be honest, yes £275 is a lot of money but that's about the same price as I would have spent on fags some months, sometimes even more if I was smoking particularly heavy which was quite often the case. Mmm, tempted I must admit. But I've got to get used to what I've got first I think - does it vape any better than my Riva 1100? Graham

Graham, this is the stuff that is B&H like on their site: www.vapeescape.co.uk/gold-%26-silver~38They all have to be a bit careful about saying something is like a Marlboro or B&H because of copyright issues. I thought that might be the case, that's what I'm vaping now. Cheers buddy, much appreciated. Graham

Yep, I have to admit it, this vaping malarky is pure gold, I've been puffing away since this morning with no ill effects so far and thoroughly enjoying myself, so much so that I've packed all my packs of normal cigarettes up ready to take to work on Monday to see if I can sell them, I'm pretty sure that the smokers there will bite my hand off for the price I shall charge them.
I bought a couple of hundred back last week from my holiday in Madeira and they would have all been smoked by now with some more bought as well so the savings already are huge considering the amount I smoked a day even taking into account the kit I've bought let alone the health implications.
I've even got my sister on the tentative first stages of vaping since yesterday and I think she's going to be OK with it too, maybe not as quick as it happened to me but given a little time I think from the way she was talking this morning then she'll succeed eventually.
Chrissie, I think I'm going to take you up on your advice and go for the maxi version you suggested as I do miss the fact I can't just gradually puff away without pressing the button and they are a bit big and heavy too keep in your mouth, I'm so used to having a cigarette in my mouth (that's probably why I smoked so much) to constantly pull on and I miss that bit so these maxi's look the ideal solution.
Just one question though, in the ordering section of the maxi you have a choice of several pre filled flavours with one of them being B & H, I've smoked B & H and liked them but I can't seem to find on the website the B & H juice - is it under a different name? Either B & H or what I used to smoke up until last week which was JPS Black will do.
Thanks for any help. Graham

Ooooh, I'm really getting into this now, there is so much more vapour than the disposables I was using, pure heaven. I had to have a chuckle to myself though and I'm sure a lot of folk have done it too but in my initial first few puffs I was very coy on the amount I pulled on it then I took this enormous drag on it and inhaled deeply - bloody hell, I thought the world was going to end, man did I cough but now it's fine having got used to it, it's bit like starting to smoke all over again and taking big luxurious pulls and seeing all that vapour is fantastic. Never going back to fags again - what's the point?

A special thanks to you Chrissie for the advice you gave me, that really was appreciated. If there is a downside to the Riva (for me) is that I would quite often smoke a cigarette and the disposable e cigs by keeping it in my mouth and pulling on it much like smoking a pipe, with the Riva then that's not really an option as you have to keep the button pressed down but in retrospect, then that's probably not a bad thing but just something I'm going to have to get used to.

It's arrived!!!! WOW!! It's awesome! I had watched how to set the Riva up by watching the videos yesterday in readiness for this morning so as soon as I had snatched the parcel from the posties hand I ripped open the envelope and started setting up, about half an hour later I was contentedly puffing away. It is a really nice smoke (vape!) and I'm really pleased with the way it works. I've only got the two flavours at the moment - Silky and Gold & Silver and both are nice in their own way, at the moment I'm pulling away on the Gold & Silver, very, very nice but what's even better is the fact that I'm not even the remotely interested in having a JPS from my packet which is sitting in front of me, not bad after being a 60 a day last week!! Thanks for all the help and advice you guys gave to me during this initial period of 'newbiness', hopefully in the not too distant future I will be able to help and advise other newbies like me. Cheers people and once again - thanks.
