Hi Dolly, The motorcycle stands mentioned by decoy and lynwlt look much better value. As long as you can handle the height when at their lowest point. Whatever you decide on I will help out making a bigger platform or anything else I can. Lots of lovely up-cycling ideas too. I can see a stall at a craft market in the future. Do you have a local freecycle at your new place? I haven't been down to Hackspace as much as I'd like. I went a whole 2 months without going at all. I've been mad busy with work. I am trying to get down their to finish a wood box mod for the meet on Saturday, but I am going to struggle to make the meet at this rate. Just shout if their is anything you think I might be able to help with, I can borrow any tools from Hackspace. You have reminded me about Freecycle. I was an avid user a few years back. Will get back on there I reckon. I will let you know if I need help with anything. You are always such a sweetie

Dolly, Welcome back! Maybe something like this would work.. www.amazon.co.uk/Sealey-MC5908-450Kg-Scissor-Motorcycles/dp/B001SFVG5O/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1400075567&sr=8-5&keywords=scissor+liftSmall enough to manoeuvre around and would give you a good solid base to work on. Of course, Mr Dolly would have to place the item on there for you, but he can be trained. On the other hand, you might want to save the chest of drawers for later (if you're thinking of selling it then it would be a higher priced item, so worth saving until you have perfected your craft.) You could do the rounds of boot sales, charity shops, local waste recycling depots etc, and stock up on picture frames, boxes, trays and the like. Doesn't matter if they are metal rather than wood. Both surfaces will be transformed with paint or decoupage. My bathroom cabinet cost me £2 from the local tip and has been transformed with decorative paint effects and some glass paint, and it was, frankly, a fairly tatty bit of MDF furniture... You'll also come across stools and little tables going for next to nothing. If nothing else comes to hand then decorate flower pots, tin plates, little things that are unloved.. I used to do lots of this stuff, loved it, lost the motivation when there was no longer anyone to tell me how great I was..lol Best of luck, Lynda Hi Lynda Yes, I've been looking at those motorbike things. I might well opt for one of those as they take up less storage space. As you said, Mr D can lift stuff onto it. I have though of all sorts of things to practice on. The first thing will be my granddaughters bedside table. It's only small. She is begging me to do it white and girlie pink (of course! What other colour is there for a 6yr old lol) she then wants me to decoupage a fairy and some butterflies on it. Her wish is my command. Just hope I don't make a dogs dinner out of it. Funny you mention flower pots. When my kids were small, I used to paint them all sorts of colours and patterns. All my friends and neighbours loved them. I think there was at least one of my pots in every house in the street. I shall revisit that again I reckon. BTW...thanks for your pm recently x

Hi Blownupdolly, I hope your getting all settled in and enjoying your new home. What a great idea for your new hobby. I don't know anyone who could build a lifting table for you I am afraid. A lifting pallet truck seems a bit over kill. These scissor lift tables are pretty good-looking www.liftruck.co.uk/scissor-tables-mobile-ergo.htmlFully lowered they are 22cm, I can build you platforms for the table to slide under, but you'd need to get someone to put the furniture on the platforms. It may be worth you popping into a hire shop to have a look at how easy they are to operate, the bigger the hire shop the bigger the selection. Go and have a play before you decide to rent/buy. If their is anything I can help with give me a scream. Phil. Hi hun. Feels like ages since we chatted! You are, of course right. I might just do that. See if they would let me have a go to see if it would work and also see whether foot or hand controls are better. I shall let you know how I get on. How are you getting on down at hackspace?

Would it still be too heavy for Mr Dolly to lift onto the lifter thing without drawers? Is Mr Dolly in the habit of doing manual work without his underwear? Well, he can be persuaded to do many things after a bottle of wine and a nice piece of steak ...

seniorphil may be able to help, he may know someone at his workshop place who could do it. Good thinking Julie. I shall ask him later. Steve has stumbled on a problem that's not easily solved it seems. All the ones I am coming up with online don't slide under things low enough for some furniture items I would come across. In fact they wouldn't slide under my chest of drawers.

I wish! Don't know anyone who would remotely know how to create one. Could your support worker help out with finding someone ? Might need to pay for it too be done but the support worker might be able to get you some funding for It If I can't find one ready made I will ask. She's not coming to see me for a couple of weeks so got time to search.

Cats are strange creatures. My Minky was about your cats age when she had six kittens. I did the usual thing and made a "nest" for her from an old cardboard box and towels. She seemed very interested in it, but when the time came she was sat in front of me in the middle of our lounge and I noticed her whole body ripple from top to bottom, quickly realised what was happening, grabbed her and ran through to the box. She gave birth to the first one 30 seconds later! Happily though, she did keep them all in the box after birth.

Could you find someone to.build you a platform to put the stuff on ? If you could then you could , have it made so it's the right working hight for you. Good luck with your new hobby I wish! Don't know anyone who would remotely know how to create one.

Tad dah! www.safetyliftingear.com/products/scissor-lift-hydraulic-platform-table-150kg/03321Perfect. You even use a foot pedal to work it which is ideal for me. Just need to get my begging bowl out now! LOL getting very excited! I already have an old chest of drawers in my bedroom earmarked as my first project. Once I get into the swing of it, I have decided to trawl eBay for things to rejuvenate and sell but won't ever spend more than £10 on anything. The only problem I can see with this one is that when closed it is 210mm (about 8 inches) high which probable means it won't slide under a chest of drawers Pah! didn't think of that. Back to google .....

God knows. They were supposed to call me back on my mobile at 1.00pm. They didn't and I couldn't stay in the new property all afternoon waiting as I had other things I needed to do. Can't do anything about it today. May just have to wait until we move in on Saturday so if I dissappear you'll know why!
I have a suspicion that once BT know you have a mobile (not that they have the courtesy to ring when they say they will!!) and as such you have a phone to use for emergencies.... you're not classed as a 'priority' to get your landline sorted!
It doesn't seem to matter even if you are classed as a priority. I was supposed to be "blue flagged" which means I am a medical priority due to being insulin dependant diabetic and a wheelchair user. God help ordinary customers if it takes 4 weeks to get me sorted. And that only happened when I threatened them with Ofcom.
