Absolutely true

But if you use a wall adapter (2A) it will be going to 10W so that should be sufficient

So I recon instead of connecting the leads to a battery and directly connecting it to a 510 connector would work.

the correct size for the female 510 thread is 6.5 mm or imperial size is 1/4" which is slightly on the small side at 6.35mm .

Thought I would be a little bit nostalgic and make a mod with this

Spring loaded battery so when you close the top it makes contact with a connector placed there.
Maybe make the switch and the 510 connector also with connectors touching each other when you close the lid thus completing the circuit so you don't have any long wires when opening the box
