Hi snout71, congrats on your first coils, it's an amazing feeling vaping on you own coils. For micro coils you should go for 0.3 kanthal, the bigger gauge means you can get more wraps for the same ohms. Down side is it takes fractionally longer to heat up, it's stiffer to work with so patience is the key, take your time. Good luck

Re the above the nail clippers, I prefer the clipper type rather than the scissor type if that makes sense, you get equal pressure across the whole blade rather than with scissors where it works upwards (I hope that makes sense, I know what I mean lol) And it is a doddle, in a nutshell, cut a length of silica, cut some wire wrap it round. Dont be stingy, it's easier to work with if you have a but more, say 4cm of wick and 6-7cm wire. As you get more proficient you can reduce and we are always here to help

Main reasons for the burnt taste could coil is to tight, but if that is a new cool I would be surprised. Sometimes you just get unlucky and get a bad head. Not sure if you have attempted recoiling yet, but could be a good candidate for a go, you have nothing to lose!

When I left the stinkies behind my first two juices were a tobacco and a menthol. Now like you I hated menthol cigs, but I was surprised that I preferred the eliquid to the baccy flavour. But taste is very subjective but also don't rule it out. It's a bit like having a mint after a fag to get rid of the smell (never really worked though did it! :-)) Good luck on your quest though

The "head" God has spoken Hope i don't get that title, just don't sound right I did think that but thought it too good an opportunity to miss, what about PHE (protank head expert) I think you would pronounce it "fee"

Ok so i know there have been a few threads regarding what you can and can't travel with, but there is something I haven't seen mentioned (but I might have missed it) and that is...... Leaking atties on flights. Now we all know airline cabins are pressurised and this can cause cartos to flood and clearomisers to leak. This exact issue got me last Monday. 2ml of blackcurrent all in my rucksack! But it smelt nice ;-) Now I was thinking about this all week ahead of flying back Friday and what I could do to prevent it and this was my epiphany I use a protank so I made sure it was only halffull, the then made sure it was upside down, the logic being if the liquid can't reach the wicks it can't be pushed out. Cunning or what! As extra insurance I did push some tissue down the mouthpiece and wrapped the whole thing in a napkin. But there was no leakage at all. So have I found a solution? I flying twice again this week and will try it again and let you know the results, but I think logically it's correct, Please share if you have any other cunning plans to counter this nuisance!

Roscopecotrain Too much wick = suffocation and the wick won't wick Too little wIck = too much juice getting in and the wick can't handle anymore Getting the balance is the key but this also depends on juice ratio being used. The "head" God has spoken (lol) I think it's fair to say Super-Shiny probably has the most experience, I know he is more exact than me, taking juice ratios into account and all that.I just tend grab the wick and wire, wrap it, test it and vape it :-)
