True silentscream and normally I do make the first move and chat about vaping and how much I love it and what juice are they using etc etc .. but this time it was different :-( It was much more "I see your little cloud of vapour and I raise you to the big boy vape" (I'm not the sensitive type I promise!!) Yeah I guess body language will tell you a lot. It's a shame though, I've been vaping 6 months now and not once have I come across anyone in public who vapes that I got to chat with about it. I feel like it's still the skeleton in my closet in a way lol. Beats the hell out of smoking though.

Maybe you should have said hi what gear are you using there? Sounds to me you both noticed another vaper and felt a bit uncomfortable and didn't say anything. His silence wasn't necessarily one-upmanship.

So many votes for the MVP I would have thought a better upgrade would be something like the Vamo (just got the V5 myself) and a couple of good batteries that way you're always using the same device, one battery for vaping while the other charges. What's he/she going to use when they run out of charge? I suppose they could buy two MVP's but it's not exactly the cheapest solution. Clearomisers... great advice from those who said stay away from rebuildables you'll be straying from an easy vaping experience into a potentially nightmarish one if you don't get on with RBA's. Aerotank is a great choice but the Aerotank Mega has just come out and if reviews are to be believed it's a whole lot better for just a little extra expense. Best of luck whatever your choices

That sounds like a bloody nightmare, gutted for you mate. I hope the PS4 and XBOX One survived intact, they're not cheap. Thinking of getting a PS4 soon myself. And yeah steep with the lids on and you'll never spill anything.

The V2 mini is still my favourite clearo. I didn't like the protank 2 at all I bought it and hated the draw and never use it. The Aspire BDC which got such rave reviews I hardly ever use it tends to burn stuff when you dial up past 9 watts (defeats the point of dual coil IMO) also it mutes flavour and the heads don't last long and are expensive to replace. V2 mini protank 2 I have three of them and love them all. Sounds like fan mail lol, I suppose in a way it is?

To be honest I'm quite happy with my Mini Protank 2's and the dual coil Aspire I got recently though the heads for the latter are a bit expensive to replace. I'm forever reading about how these clearos simply don't compare to a good RBA setup and how you haven't experienced a really good vape unless you go RBA. I'm really crap at fiddly stuff like that so it's out for me so I suppose there's an element of bitterness in my attitude because of that Don't be bitter. With the arrival of the likes of the Protank, my rebuildables other than drippers are stored away for the Apocalypse . . . why faff when you don't have to. Yep come The Dark Day when vaping is torn apart by politicians to drag that money back into the coffers from big tobacco I will be going back to my youtube RBA For Total Dummies videos

I say there's a market for very high quality entry level kit and you take it as a swipe at hobbyists. A tad sensitive are we? I'm saying the best vape shouldn't be the sole domain of people who are prepared to spend ages faffing about recoiling and rewicking and rebuilding (some people hate that stuff). If a company releases an entry level product that gives the same quality vape as a good RBA without the messing about that will be a game changer, and that answers the OP's question. I don't find that's the case as it is now myself silentscream, there are some jolly good clearo systems to be had now. All giving an excellent quality vape. I'd venture that it's the eliquid used that can on occasions let them down . . . . What's a game changer? Another new mod maybe quadruple coil to feed everyone's shinyitus so they can spend a ton on another mod they don't need? The most needed game changer is for vaping to become standardised for newcomers. We need something that does what people spend bloody ages faffing about with coils and wicks and RBA's achieve but it's right there, done, sorted. Pick it up, fill it up, sorted. The next innovation in vaping will be taking vaping out of the hands of the hobbyists and presenting it to people who just want to quit smoking without all the crap currently involved in getting 'the best vape'. Whilst I agree that the choices can be bewildering for newcomers, I don't believe they want 'standardisation'. There are some great kits available now that can be just picked up and vaped, now and for ever if so desired. Your swipe at 'hobbyists' is mis-directed. It is those very people who have tinkered and improved and innovated e-cigs. There would be no replaceable heads or vv batteries without a hobbyist interest driving the demand. Imeo in Greece was a hobbyist who spearheaded rebuildables, and Clockworks drippers made in a garden shed set a benchmark. None of this is 'crap' as you put it, it is people trying to improve things for everyone. I say there's a market for very high quality entry level kit and you take it as a swipe at hobbyists. I've been talking about this today. Because my quitter's flu is really bad at the moment, I put off my first vape of the day deciding I'd wait till the craving got bad and I *needed* it. I'd never have been able to wait very long on cigarettes (couple of hours max and I'd've been getting ratty and irritable). As it is, I've ended up not vaping at all today and still not feeling a craving. I wasn't vaping 0mg either. It's a weird one. I know for sure it's not the nicotine that makes me want to vape. It probably plays a part but it doesn't make me feel like I've had a cig it's just a substitute and I'm fine with that. It distracts me from smoking so for that reason alone I won't stop even if I can go through long periods in the day where I don't need it, it's always there.

I don't think nicotine is what made cigs addictive. As was said above people don't rush for an emergency vape when they first wake up, even when they first started vaping, yet we ALL did with cigs.

How complicated it is (or isn't) can depend on how the potential new vaper comes into contact with it. If they find some clown in a mall trying to sell them cigalikes at exorbitant prices it will seem very uncomplicated but not particularly attractive though obviously cigalikes have worked for some people. If they are just interested and come to a forum they'll be advised to get something like an EVOD starter kit (that's what happened to me when I came here) and that to me wasn't complicated at all, I bought a few liquids with it when I ordered and off I went. What really annoys me is seeing threads on forums from new vapers who are asking questions about starter gear and some idiot is trying to get them to buy a mod and an RBA like obviously the newb is going to know what the hell that is. If anything is going to turn people off, that will do it. As others have said, once you get an idea of what's out there it can be as complicated or uncomplicated as you want it to be. I'm 3 months into vaping now and use an Ego V V3 with a mini protank 2, I also have an Aspire BDC and a protank 2. I'm fine with that, I can't be arsed with rewicking and recoiling when I want a new head I just stick one in and off I go. I'll probably get a mech at some point to extend battery life etc but if I have to do my own wicks and coils RBA is out forever for me. That's just my choice but there you have it... the choice IS there, we can all put as much or as little effort into vaping as we like and still all be happy

I've got to ask... serious obsession with hardware but what are you vaping with it? Do you have the same obsession with liquids? If so and you have tried 'everything' what are your faves?

Dripping gear ordered and 55 samples from SmokeRainbow. That should do the trick! That should keep you out of trouble for a while I ordered 9 samples from Smoke Rainbow on Wednesday morning. They turned up today so woot to that! I'm trying Jack the Ripple at the moment and can't figure out if I like it or not. Also Mt Baker butterscotch which doesn't taste much like butterscotch, or does it? I don't know I'll have another toot. Anyway excellent service from Smoke Rainbow, very impressed. Love Mt Baker juices too I've only got one from them but it doesn't taste of butterscotch. Weird. Do they need to be steeped? Most are T Juice and the one I tried is very light on flavour I wonder if they need to be steeped too?
