I've heard that a new mod should be cleaned to get rid of the machining or polishing materials that are left on after manufacture. How is this done? Do you have a ritual you perform on a new mod, apart from I saw Zeldamum's recent thread on ultrasonic cleaning of clearomiser parts. I have an ultrasonic cleaner, so would you advise breaking down the parts and putting it in for cleaning and what cleaning solution would you use to clean it? Or it a simple job and less cleaning needed? Someone also talked about using alcohol, would that be used on all parts after cleaning? I would also be interested to know about general maintenance of mods you may perform every now and again, like cleaning contacts and how you go about this.

Yeah I tried this about a month ago as I didn't like the alcohol concentrates that I had, such as Whisky and Brandy. So put in about 5% of Glenmorangie, which has a strong 'vapour' when you drink it, so I thought the flavour could come through. Didn't do anything for my vape. The flavour of the whisky was completely lost for me. This site looked interesting www.swedishconnections.co.uk/essence/15/prestige-black-label-ultra-premium-essences They do flavourings to add to alcohol. However, there is an earlier post on AAEC from someone who was trying to replicate a Jack Daniels Bourbon and they were advised against using the concentrate due to certain ingredients.

Looks like you haven't been following the news Gaz. Quite a few of us are waiting on Super Shiny to complete his quest. As rumour has it, a variable voltage silver chalice will be with us soon

Thanks Karma. I guess I was looking in the general vendors section, rather than eliquid specific, somehow missed it. Unfortunately I didn't reload the page, which it seems I needed to do to see your reply. I went ahead an ordered and only saw that you'd responded afterwards. I'm definately in need of new flavours, as nothing I've got at the moment is satisfying me, maybe that's why I'm so dumb tonight. Thanks again for the update, if I like the flavours will be using the code next time.

Went to the pub with my brother over Christmas and vaped in the smoking area, whilst he had a fag. Told him all about how I'd given up smoking and the benefits of vaping, without being to preachy or pushy. He emailed me yesterday saying that he wanted to try ecigs and what would I would recomend. We both read The Guardian, so I definately think the follow up with the article there did the trick. There was a day of action on Friday, so well done to all those who turned up to talk to the media. Seems the message will get through and MT2103 and his ilk will ultimately look very foolish.

Thanks Everyone for the warm welcome Yes Pep, may have to lay the blame on good ol' Sailor Jerry for the late night purchases, special thanks for your message. Must be something in the combo of drinking and vaping, I've dreamt of creating my own mod with a pictish design based on the Glenmorangie logo. And on that note, hi Phil, found your earlier post on the Hacker Zone in Hackney (I think that's right) very interesting, I'd probably have to give it sometime yet, but wouldn't mind joining at a later date. On all things shiny. I haven't tried this myself, but was something under consideration. If you take a look at a stainless steel Ego battery or a Kanger BCC, I think these have a special coating, so they don't pick up fingerprints easily. I did a little bit of research, to see if it was possible to do something myself. It seems that with a mass produced product they would undergo an electroplating process, which would be prohibitively costly for most of us. However, l did find what might be a good solution for what is called an oleophobic coating, which would prevent the oils in the skin of the hand penetrating the metal and lessen the fingerprinting. I hope you don't mind be talking about this, I know it looks pretty dodgy talking about an item for sale on a member's first post! The product i found is called Enduroshield for stainless steel and is on sale at Amazon UK. Haven't used it myself but would like to know what people think. It's really just the oleophobic element i think is of use. Could this be useful for stainless steel vape stuff?

Hi Dave, was pleased to see that you'd joined the forum here. I checked out UKV a couple of days ago and found out about Gus Mods. Followed that up with your review on the G16 and I was ready to go. Finally here was a mod that I could actually buy. It was great that I could see it close up and you were the first and only, as far as I could see, to do a review. Had a difficult decision, as I found the 18350 appealing, but was swayed, partly from your review, partly because I already desired a GP Piccolo and Spheroid, to go for the G16 with the Steam Machine. Hope you get the Steam Machine sometime as it would also make another interesting review. So thanks, this will be my first mech mod and also appears to be a good deal in terms of quality and value for money. By other accounts the steam machine is good for flavour and a relatively easy set-up for newbies.

Hi, Todd here ... (sorry I've been watching too many videos). Hello to all on the forum. It's been a great rescourse that I've been meaning to join for sometime, however, usually around about 2 a.m. in the morning. My usual time for impulse vaping supplies, but not necessarily the best time to join a forum in the UK. If memory serves me right, I tried to join last year, but failed the 'now prove your a human' test, which was a bit worrying at the time. My vaping history has taken me from the Vape Stick (a tiny little thing that's now a dripper) on to bigger and better things (thanks Kanger), and finally today, oh happy, happy day...to the purchase of my first mechanical mod with rebuildable atty. That is, after an hour of the shiny or matte debate going through my mind...don't care if it's a fingerprint magnet - I went for shiny. Started making my own ejuice last year and have Youtubed so much, I reckon I could micro coil in my sleep. Not that I've ever made a coil yet! That's why I need you guys. The vaping world is moving fast. Love all the stuff that's coming out each month and love the sharing of knowledge that goes with it and I'm very happy to be part of this great world wide community.
