That's super Karma! Result! Can I ask how much you used to smoke and what strength nic you're on now? And also how long ago you made the switch? This is actually the main reason I looked at ecigs in the first place, because I have a prob with gum disease; my teeth are fine so far. Thanks so much for replying

Afternoon all
Has anyone had any feedback from their dentist about vaping? Anyone know of any reports or trials done regarding effects of nicotine on gums or teeth?
I ask because I'm off to see my dentist tomorrow (she's lovely, but the dentistry isn't!) and I mentioned last time I saw her that I had bought a cigalike (the one you can get from Tescos, I forget the name) to attempt to cut down on the smoking. She said she appreciated the effort, but that she didn't know much about ecigs so couldn't (in her professional capacity) say 'yay! that's great!' and she would find out what she could about what the general consensus was about them within dentistry circles. She said her colleague had a patient who vaped too, and he'd asked her if she knew anything about it, so there was a growing need for information so they knew what to say to their patients.
I know what she's going to come back to me with as far as the NHS in general is concerned - 'without proper labelling and regulation of eliquids, you don't know for certain what's in it, therefore we can't recommend it.' (Do I have that right? Is that what they say? Feeling uncertain about it now...)
But my dentist never just trots out 'policy' to me. She explains why things are the way they are, as best she can, so I think I could have a pretty fair conversation with her about it.
So what I'm interested in is providing her with some 'nitty gritty': the real nuts and bolts of exactly what any problems might be and the reasons for it. I know she'll have done some homework on it too, so it'll be interesting when we get together to compare notes.
So what's your experiences been folks? Has anyone else had any good convos like this with their dentist? Any online resources you could point me toward that I can share with mine? Can I pick your collective brains please?
Your input would be much appreciated!
Thank you!

I looked at the title of this and read 'The Art of Steeping Ropely'! I was wondering if my steeping technique was a bit ropey too CaptainChaos! I started out with the lids off, then read you should keep 'em on but 'replace the air' periodically. I ended up leaving them in my new 'Vape box', giving them a shake every so often, and just squeezing the bottles gently 'til the juice reaches almost to the top and releasing again to draw new air into the bottle. I don't know if that's what's meant by 'replacing the air' but it was my best guess! It's odd, isn't it, because anything else with an odour to it, you usually keep the lid on so the perfumes don't leach into each other, or anything else. And you store in a cool dark place. Eliquids on the other hand need the air and a warm place - at least that's what I've read. By the way Clivia, one of my steeping liquids is spearmint (from jj) Is that one of the ones that doesn't need so much steeping? It certainly smells stronger than all the others? My other flavours are: Mocha Citrus Punch Dark Cherry Strawberries and cream Irish Cream Mine have only been steeping for 12 days I probably won't be ready for our tastathon will I Captain?

Hey taz96, I expect enjay will get you off to a flyer if you manage to meet up, but just in case you both get hauled off by service station security before you get the finer points down, there's always this: ukvapers.org/Thread-Edinburgh-Vape-eventThey're looking at doing coiling classes amongst other things. Just a thought

You can Karma, yes. When I spoke to the lass in the shop about them, she said they had previously put up pictures of the kind of things they had for sale, on their website, and they'd sold out really fast online - which posed them a bit of a problem, as the pieces they make are all different! She said they hoped to be putting more pictures up soon and getting a bit more organised, but in the meantime, if someone wants something special done they can drop them an email. The ones I got cost £4.95 each, if I remember right, but there were larger/different ones that were a bit more, depending on the stones used etc. Best thing, if you're interested, is give them a call or drop a line I would think. As I write this, I'm wondering if I could maybe help them out with some photos but I think I need practice first! Not touched my camera in years before this! Hope this helps

As promised, (and if I can work out how to do this) here's some pics of my charms. The gift bag Blue stone charm Tree charm Tree charm on vision spinner And a wider shot to give some ideas of size Despite the colour in these pics, the charms are silver in colour not gold - that's just my kitchen light lol And apologies for the blurriness, I should have got the tripod out but was too impatient! Anyway, hope that gives you some idea.

Hahaha! I know the feeling CaptainChaos ! I spent the whole afternoon trawling Edinburgh chemists, asking for blunt syringes and getting blank looks! I also came home with a tube of Sterident from Tescos but I'm too knackered to do anything with it now lol

Ooooh! Pritty!!! Thanks Clivia nail polish may be a good alternative too! Thinking about it, you could get all creative couldn't you? Paint lil designs on the glass an stuff? Or maybe not, not sure if that might make them crack. I may have to investigate this... *wonders off to hatch a cunning plan - cottage industry decorating clearos...* I have these Misst if you don't mind waiting - they're nicer colours than the official ones.... Oh yeah, see what you mean! Lovely and bright! Don't know if I have the patience to wait tho lol
