Another tip for vamo repairs (if you or someone you know has access to a lathe)

For vamos with the floating head, where the pin needs to be reseated after pin/grommet replacement or resoldering

1. Turn a small length of bar to the diameter of the smaller blind hole on the underside of the cap (8.5mm on the last cap I did)

2. Drill a 3.2mm hole into the centre of this piece(some pins need 3.5mm hole)

3. Place this under cap after grommet is inserted

4. Press the pin into place with the washer under the head of the pin

The tool will allow the pin to pass, but will block the grommet thus allowing the pin to be inserted without the grommet being pushed out.

snow very good point made about the necessity of professional staff. The problem I have with certain charities is the inefficient advertising and immense greed of certain individuals who are at the head of some charities. It is of course a requirement to offer a good salary to attract good staff, but sometimes certain senior management figures are paid ridiculous sums. A better man/woman to have at the top is someone who genuinely believes in the cause and will accept a more reasonable wage, and will also give their all to the cause. A few of people in these positions see it as a job and a career, not fighting for a worthy cause. And much of the advertising in wasteful. Paying more than required for less than optimal income.

The most successfully managed charity I have seen is the St Andrews hospice in Airdrie. They have regular income from many bodies including schools who fundraise for them, they have two shops in the town and minus unavoidable expenses like rates they hand all proceeds over for the care of residents in the hospice.

99% of paid staff at charities are dedicated and should be admired, but there are still those who sadly look at their own pockets above all else.

This might not always be the case, but in all the vamo 5's I've seen, the ones with puff counter have a flush screen, while the ones without have a screen proud of the surface.

Lithium ions are fine, the normal ecig type battery. I only mentioned other types because the nitecore can charge your regular rechargable AA AAA and C batteries for remotes, cameras, toys etc, just in case this extra ability was of interest.

How mcu are you paying for the xtar? The nitecore i2 can be bought for under £13, and can charge li ion imr ni cad and NiMH batteries, while the xtar can only charge lithiums. The extra flexability is nice. Another thing I dont really like about the xtar is it's cutoff voltage. It's a bit too high for lower capacity batteries such as 18350s.
