If you are a total nerd like me, you might like this. It's a free ebook on braids, knots and splices (particularly the back splice, or single crown knot for the ends). Get the version with images. I know it's totally unnecessary, but I quite fancy doing a neat job. Fiddly though. www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/13510

Sorry Mrsmac. I get the occasional leak, I check every re-fill, but it's not terminal.
There are really only two places where juice can get inside. First between the mouthpiece and the rubber cap, but if the seal is screwed down tight and you're refilling carefully that can't be it I suppose. Second is through the wick, which would be more of a problem, I'm guessing, if you fill above the wick or if the wick is otherwise submerged. I can't think of any other way kuice can get in.
Not that this is any help. I hope you'll find a travelling kit that keeps you off the nasties, maybe the EVS isn't it.

I'd like a USB only passthrough that isn't made of tissue paper and spit, VV of course, to save batteries when I'm at my desk/loungin'. I've broken three passthroughs in four months and given up. Even Dibleys are five volts only and therefore imperfect. It may be my first modding venture when I have time.
Oh, and a Provari or LT. And some money to pay for them.

Looking at some of the foreign vendors, it seems there's some kind of licensing deal for (Royalsmoker) CE2 wick because they refuse to export where they don't have a licence eg UK.
I've ordered some from ecigz, but it hasn't been dispatched yet, so I guess 'in stock' just means 'on order and we'll send it when it turns up' in this case.

Reviews on here seem mixed, but I'm happy with mine. Ecig wizard seem to have a good deal at the mo if you use a code. PM deesigner if you want inexpensive wire for coil, though wick has been a bit of a head-scratcher. I definitely prefer these to cartos, given that they must also be cheaper long-term, although I'm massively tempted by Imists. It never ends.

Mine's OK still, dry burned twice since 21st Feb whenever it started tasting funny. 3.7v standard resistance. Really pleased so far.

Did you make sure you burned off all the gunk on the coil, so the coil is visibly glowing and not smoking?
If you did then there must be some other problem. Sorry if it didn't work, but worth trying at five quid a time.

Not sure of the ohms my meter seems to be rubbish.. If you just touch the contacts together you can measure the offset error. Mine is 0.5 ohms (cheapo meter), but if you subtract that from the measured reading it comes pretty close eg measure 3.7, subtract the 0.5 offset gives 3.2 ohm.

That's no excuse. I'm blonde too and it doesn't even come out of a bottle.

If you can wiggle the bottom metal ring off, the gubbins come out easily using a battery as a puller. Then you just follow the vid for dry burning and put it back together again.
It's not actually that hard, we blokes just have to pretend it's really difficult so we have a reason to exist. Good luck.

The original video method (where he just works the lid off by hand) doesn't work with the latest batch of EVS. You either knock it through with a pipe or rod, or work the bottom collar off somehow. I take the collar off with pliers. I reckon it's possible, with patience and a pair of tweezers, to get the caps off and on without disassembling, but I found it easier to just remove the tank first. There's a tech discussion toward the end of this thread allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=5324&page=8#126557

Just anecdotal, but I have had success with dry burning once it starts churning out burnt caramel bits and tasting funny (which took about four days for me).
On two occasions I've opened it up first, however, which allows you to see when the coil is clear and rinse it all out properly, and this requires some mechanical wrangling. If you're planning to give up on it, you may as well try to get the lid off.
You know the dry burn is finished when it stops throwing out smoke. This takes, for me, ten or twenty four-second burns, but once done it's been as good as new for me.
I'd be slightly worried about dry burning with the lid on, because there's maybe a risk of melting the rubber cap on top and it's hard to tell how it's progressing. It might be possible to hook out the rubber and metal caps (which sit on top of the central column)without removing the tank first, and then dry burn, but that could also be fiddly to get back on afterwards
Definitely don't bin them. My first one is still going strong.

ecigz didn't reply to my message directly, but 5m CE2 wick is now back in stock so it may have had an effect, P&P is £2 unless you make the order up to £10.
So I ordered some, although I'll also try the ss if people decide to go for a group buy. We'll see how it goes.
It is possible to get juice in the top when filling as well btw.

Sorry to hear that Lisa. Any idea how it's leaking? Is it leaking from the central chamber onto the centre-pin, or elsewhere?
Also, I've explained the situation to e-cigz and asked if they plan on stocking CE2 wicks anytime soon. Awaiting a reply.
