E Cig newbie

Hi there,

I am looking to get an E Cig starter pack to help me eventually give up smoking and I was just hoping someone could answer a few questions I have. I have been reading up all day, and still could not find the answers so sorry if these are stupid questions.

What do you use normally, I know you can buy prefilled cartridges and these seem to be the easiest but not the best tasting.

If you buy a liquid do you just refill any cartridges you have or do you have to buy empty ones and can you just keep refilling them over and over?

I know about the dripping technique but was wondering if this was time consuming, if you are out all day is it a bit off a hassel to keep dripping,

I guess I am asking what is the best way to keep using your E Cig. Sorry If I am waffling, my brain is a bit melted from reading about it all day. Lol. Though I can say I can't wait to order and get started. Yay!!

1st the only stupid question is the one that is not asked

If you use liquid then yes buy empty cartridges and first you fill them and then keep topping up.
If you get pre-filled ones once you use them a bit you can also top these up with the liquid you buy.

The best way is really the way that works for you and the only way you will figure this out is to experiment.

I personally dont drip and will only use this method if I loose my cart when away from home.

To start with I would say it is best to use carts and get some liquid - dont go buying large bottles of it as it can take a while to find the ones that suit you and also your taste buds change a few weeks after you start.
So you can end up going off some liquids you thought were great and also start to like some you thought were nasty.

Stick to buying 5ml-10ml bottles.

If you buy a kit that should come with some empty/blank carts usually 5 .
5 carts being topped up would last me about 3 weeks - others get a lot longer out of them.

No questions are stupid, so don't ever worry about asking as many questions as you need to

To begin with, like most people, I bought a starter kit with prefilled cartridges & yes they are the easiest thing to start with, but as you say not the best tasting.

Yes you can refill any cartridge with e-liquid. So no you don't have buy empty ones. You can keep on refilling them, but after a while the fiibre filling gets a tad cruddy but that can also be replaced (will explain that more later)

After a while dripping & or refilling the carts becomes second nature & takes no more time than finding a lighter (that works) & lighting a fag If you are out all day you can take several refilled carts with you. However, there are other methods (that come at a price) like the GG AFS - again I'll go into details about that later

Hi again. Thank you so much for the quick replies. Was not expecting any till at least tomorrow as I had posted so late.

Really great advice. I am going to use whatever come in the starter pack and get a little bottle of liquid. I have send a message to the guy at oksmokey( dont know his name yet) To see what he suggests based on what I smoke now, so as soon as he replies I can order. Well that and I have to choose between the dsc109 and the titan. (Been watching igetcha's videos on youtube and am now so confused about what to get, lol) Off to get some sleep now and will check back in again tomorrow.

Ginger, OKSmokey's (George) starter kits are a good price & he is a good supplier. So difficult to say which is the best starter kit between the DSE901 or the 510 (Titan) they are both very good e-cigs.

You've already had lots of good advice so i'll just add that i have never bought any prefilled carts, i bought 2 starter kits, and still use the 10 i got with them, topping up as needed...

time-wise, i find that rather than taking off an empty cart and swopping it for another, it's just as quick to whip a wee bottle of juice from my pocket and topping it up with a few drops

I work 12 hour shifts, with several smoke breaks (i sneak a few extra as i nip to the loo for a few fly puffs in between..lol) and always carry one or two 5ml bottles with me...sorted

we can tell you about alternative stuff to fill your carts with, i could even send you a sample to try, if you'd like, which will perform better, and hold more liquid than the original filler.

Ok guys, good news. I think I have decided on which kit to get. Igetcha on youtube recomended the titan over the 901, but then went on to say that the tornado was the same as the titan but with a better battery life. So it looks like I am getting a tornado. Unless you guys think otherwise?

I am now trying to figure out which liquid I would get on with. I currently smoke richmond menthols and am in the middle of looking through all the liquids on oksmokey and on totalywicked.

Ginger, I've not used a Tornado myself, but I know that Foxy & others in here also say they are brilliant fro battery life

If you smoke menthol cigs, it may be best to try a menthol flavour e-liquid to begin with. However, no matter what e-liquid you go for, it won't taste exactly like a real cig. As for what strength you should go for, that depends on how much you smoke at the moment.

Thanks Chrissie, I noticed that totalywicked had menthol liquid. I think I will get that to start with. I am thinking I need the 18mg as I smoke 20 per day and they are 0.8mg. I checked the sticky on this board and I think that was what it suggested. I might actually be all ready to order now. Woo hoo!!!! x

Ginger, i also smoked Richmond menthol, reason being i always disliked the taste of tobacco...lol

the liquids all taste much nicer than tobacco anyway, so you could get a bottle of menthol and a bottle of something else, and just add a few drops of menthol to it, according to your taste...

i've never vaped menthol on it's own, but add it to just about every other juice i have

Just ordered the tornado, a bottle of menthol and a bottle of cherry. I love cherry stuff. Cant wait. Thank you guys. No doubt I will be bugging you when it gets here, with loads more questions. x
