I think sometimes when you click "submit" it doesn't go thro' - I typed mine twice earlier 'cause the first one didn't register, even tho' it clicked (bit like my keyboard ) (Chrissie - did the thing you suggested - back in english now but keys still mis registering) If this story is in the Times & that "Similar" article is a big deal in our local rag (copied it on my cross fingers post) - even got it's own special launch date!! - then why aren't our e cigs hitting the news? Doesn't make sense

Good idea Chrissie, we're certainly doing our bit - I just wish more people would do so. The link was posted by Kate on TW but although a few people responded with witicisms, obviously not many responded on Timesonline. As my last post seems to have vanished into cyberspace, this is wot I rote: Cigarettes contain elements that enhance the addictive nature of nicotine and, therefore, it isn't just the drug that smokers miss when they give up cigarettes, it is the combination of the tar, carbon monoxide, arsenic etc., combined with the nicotine that is the reason that NRT products and the e-cigarette are not the solution for everyone. NRT products do not replace the sight and sensation of the smoke from burning tobacco; the vapour produced by the e-cigarette tricks the brain into believing one is smoking the 'real deal. This is, I believe, the reason 'vaping' did the trick for me where all else had failed.
I tried the Nicorette Inhalator and found it useless. It provided the hand-to-mouth habit of the cigarette but other than leaving a nasty taste in the mouth, gave no other satisfaction. Incidentally, one bright spark in 'power' actually suggested one reason the e-cigarette should be banned was that it did nothing to break the hand-to-mouth habit; obviously he'd not done his homework as the Nicorette Inhalator has been available for many years.
Another reason given for the undesirability of the e-cigarette is that the amount of nicotine being ingested by the user cannot be measured accurately. Sadly, this weak-willed individual used both a Nicorette Inhalator and smoked cigarettes, thus ingesting a double dose of nicotine. Eventually I was using cartridge after cartridge of liquid nicotine in my Nicorette device and it was obvious I was wasting both time and money.
If nicotine addiction was the only reason I smoked cigarettes for so many years, I could now save a fortune by obtaining NRT products courtesy of the NHS and, consequently, the taxpayer; this I choose not to do as I'm happy to fund my recreational 'vaping' from my own pocket for as long as the law allows.
Those intent on implementing a total ban on the sale of e-cigs should bear in mind that almost nothing is totally unavailable but I would far rather know that what I'm inhaling is certified as being as pure as possible, as is the liquid I currently buy, than be forced by circumstance to obtain supplies from, perhaps, more dubious sources.
Liquid nicotine is already regulated in the UK and suppliers are monitored (or should be) by Trading Standards. To date I've neither seen nor heard one single valid reason for banning a product that has the potential to save worldwide, hundreds of thousands of lives annually while allowing the unrestricted supply of a product well recognized to be a form of deadly poison; namely tobacco.
Finally, it is three months to the day since I smoked my last cigarette.
I reckon I gave the moderator a headache! I do go on a bit! Fox

Lolli, by "keys still mis registering" do you mean you are getting wrong letters/digits etc when you type?
As for the e-cigs not hitting the news - I should imagine that both the main dug & tobacco companies have massive amounts of shares & therefore control of most newspapers.

We all do well in our own way. Different ways to present the message are needed for different types of reader.
I've resubmitted my comment so if it gets published twice that'll be why.
