Hi Cornflakes and welcome. You may have received your Riva by now and probably chugging away on it - if so, then well done!! After my e-type cigs I too went for the Riva and also a SD, I actually now prefer the SD but that's just a preference thing rather than being right or wrong. I wouldnt worry too much if you need the odd cigarette now and again during the initial start of gaping, if you can go without then all well and good but don't do what I did and beat yourself up over it if you do have one. I'm limiting myself to a max of 3 cigarettes a day now which is a saving of 57 I'm not smoking and that mind set gets me through the initial stopping smoking thing. There will come a point in time when I will think that what is the point of smoking just 3 a day - I might as well not smoke them at all. Enjoy your Riva mate, you won't be disappointed. Graham

Hey Cornflakes, Really glad you are planning to vape I am on day 14 of just vaping, I am really shocked that I am not smoking, I have smoked since I was 13 and I am a month away from 34 and I was a proper smoker! (well if you are going to do something....... do it properly and all that!) Lol are you sure your not me? I started at 13 and turn 34 on bonfire night! Riva arrive about 20 minutes ago, I loaded up the clearomiser with mintoff juice. Turned it on and went to chug away and nothing so I am presuming I will have to push the button to get anything. So I pushes the button and take a drag. Result in me coughing and spluttering as it hits the back of my throat, away I go to have a little more practice i think. I either get too much throat hit or not enough vape at the moment

Could the nicotine content of these samples be too high? I like a lot of vapour but whenever I draw any amount of vapour larger than a wisp I choke on the throat hit. I have now tried keeping it in my mouth too but it is still too strong.
I might nip into town and get some totally wick juice to try a lower nicotine content. I know there is a seller in the market somewhere.

Possibly Cornflakes, the Pick n Mix come in just the one strength 20mg. You could dilute them down with some Vegetable Glycerine, although doing that, you will lose some flavour.

I put the black jack juice into a cartomiser and that seems to be a more acceptable level for me throat hit wise there just isn't quite enough vapour but I am sure I will get used to that. I think I do need less nicotine when I buy the next lot though, my vaping needs aren't sated but I can't vape more because I have that nicotine head rush Right now I feel very positive this will actually work for me once I get to grips with what's right for me

Make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids as well Cornflakes, vaping can be drying and it won't help the head rush thing either if you don't. Also, make sure you keep that Cartomiser wet, if it vapes dry and you get a burnt taste, it's done for really. And yes, there's no disputing it can take some experimentation to find what suits you, whether that's kit or juice.

Cornflakes, perhaps we are dopplegangers lol!!! and I choked the first time I vaped, but I think I was pulling on the e-cig far too hard, someone on this forum told me not to try and suck it with force like you would a cigarette, I suppose pull on it sort of gently and allow your mouth to fill up with smoke, you may have mastered it already! good luck with the vaping!

I bought one of these elite cigs at the weekend but that isn't for me, if I take enough vapour out to satisfy my needs, the throat hit makes me gag, cough and splutter. Welcome. I too (regrettably) wasted my money and time, and "enthusiasm" on e-lites. I moved on to mini's and started to get a grip on why I couldn't get a hold on the cravings. These days, I can either do minis on max nic' juice or ego/riva-type with 12 or 18mg. It's all about the amount of vape and the strength of juice depending on your kit. If I was on e-lites, I'd be chain-vaping and still getting cravings. ...rant... don't get me started. >

Thank you all for you replies it really does help. My first major test has just been a success. One of the cigs I missed the most when I quit cold turkey was after a meal. 2 hours into all this and I have just had my first after meal vape and I can surprisingly say I do not feel as though I have missed a cig.
I do think the 20mgs of nicotine is too high for me though, next time I will try maybe 18 and work my way down. I haven't retried the cleartomiser yet but I have pretty much go tot grips with the cartomiser. All I want now is a bit more vapour and I will be happy.

Probably a very noob question but does the amount of nicotine in a juice alter the flavour? The juices I am trying are doing their job but not as satisfying on the taste buds as I had hoped they would be and I am always left with quite a strong after taste. Very much like smoking which is why I am wondering if this is the nicotine and if I could control it with lowering the dosage.

The level of nicotine, shouldn't affect the flavour of most juices, just weakens/strengthens the throat hit

Hubby just got home after a week of working away and he had cigs with him. I have just lit one up and it doesn't feel or taste right This will be the last stinky I smoke and it's vaping from here on in for me.
