I do think the 20mgs of nicotine is too high for me though, next time I will try maybe 18 and work my way down. What sort of real cigs were you on? My daily intake (real tobacco) was up to 15-20mg and using 18mg liquid on anything other than a powerful device left me climbing the walls. I reckon go too low and you might struggle. Unless you were on lights of course.... I smoked Sterling Kingsize 0.8mg nicotine according to the box (is that per cig)? I am using the 20mg nicotine right now and feel that is enough for me (maybe even a bit too much I have had a few head rushes). My problem I am finding right now is I have right now is the after taste I get is quite bitter no matter which juice I use and I'm not getting the flavour hit I had hoped for.

You mention about the coughinh with the high Nic' Cornflake. I still cough a fair bit if I've let myself smoke for a few days. It does take a while to lose the cough for some people. Main thing is to just do what you feel okay doing. Thank you It's not a cough as such more a choke/gag. I do have a sensative gag reflex anyway. I seem to have got this under control now and have found where my drawing in limit is. Now to master tasting more flavour and I am laughing.

Cornflakes your taste buds will have been compromised by smoking, so you won't be tasting anything fully right now. One of the other joys of stopping smoking is that your sense of taste and smell improve. This will happen over a fairly short period too

Still working on tasting more flavour myself. All I've been able to taste for the last few days is my menthol juice.

Yes. 0.8mg per cig. That's a medium strength analogue.
If you were doing a pack a day, 18mg would be good. Any more and I'm surprised you feel 20/24 is too much.
I'd love to offer some help on the juice front, but I'm finding more I don't like than I do like at the moment.
Best flavour and "finish" I'm getting a.t.m is 2/3 lemon 1/3 menthol. Things like vanilla and sweets are horrible for me. BUT, everyone is different.

I can taste the flavours it is just very subtle which I could probably handle if this after taste would stop. I'll just keep trialing various juices and see what workd for me. I ordered more juices with hubbys set tonight so I'll test those when they arrive too.
Just charging a battery up is it done when the light turns green (riva battery)?

Cornflake, don't put yourself under any pressure to give up that first cig of the day. Count the ones you don't smoke, not the ones you do carry on smoking that first one of the day until you feel that you don't need it any more. there is no right or wrong way to give up smoking. Do what is right for you and enjoy your vaping journey

Hey Cornflakes, Really glad you are planning to vape I am on day 14 of just vaping, I am really shocked that I am not smoking, I have smoked since I was 13 and I am a month away from 34 and I was a proper smoker! (well if you are going to do something....... do it properly and all that!) I really haven't wanted to smoke cigs since vaping, this site has been invaluable, the people are truly the nicest I have ever come across on a forum, ask anything and everything, ask 20 questions or more! a day on here, you will get help and good luck with your new Riva p.s had to edit post as I got my age wrong! I am 34 in November and I put I was 34 already before the edit.........scary......I remember my Mum being unsure of her age when she I was little and thinking she was nuts.......now I get it.......oh no Han, i have just noticed we share our birthdays i had it first tho LOL

I was smoking about the same, around 0.6mg nic in my Pall Mall Blues, and I've got a mix of 20/18/16mg nic juices now. I hope to slowly bring myself down as I go along, but right now i'm just happy to be off the cigs! As for the taste and flavour, I had these issues too. As oneday said your taste buds will be shot to hell right now and wobbling all over the shop, so don't panic too much just yet, give them a few weeks to calm down and get used to the fact that for the first time in years they're not being numbed by all the smoke. I'm starting to taste the flavours of things more now, but as you saw in my 'to twist' thread, I still feel I need to be able to crank that side of things up a notch, so will be investing in a twist soon. I'll be sure to let you know if it improves things.

Today hasn't been so bad, I did have a morning cig though. I just automatically got one out of the box and lit, I don't think I actually needed it because I didn't enjoy it and went straight to the riva after that. I do need to get more flavour out of the riva though. At times today it has tasted as though I am smoking air, other times it has been ok. Another test was passed I visited some relatives that are smokers and I would usually have 3 to 5 cigs while there chatting and drinking coffee. I just had my riva and didn't feel as though I was missing anything. It has even made them question whether it would work for those, they know I am the worlds worst for chain smoking in a social environment. They also know how much I have struggled with cravings when I have tried to quit before, so they can't believe how well I am doing with the riva already. They all even had a little puff but none of them were keen on my mintoff juice and would prefer tobacco but after the initial choking they agreed it was just like dragging on a real cig. Maybe I should ask vape escape for commission if they buy I'll buy a tobacco juice for them to try I think.

You're going to be OK with this vapeing malarky Cornflakes, it will take time to get the right taste but it will come. I vape nothing but menthol now because it's so simple - you either like it or you don't and although I didn't like smoking menthol cigarettes I love vaping it - very strange. It leaves a nice refreshing taste in my mouth and is not too harsh. I'm also getting the nicotine from it (sometimes too much because I chug on for too long because it is so nice and I forget ) The great thing for me now is with this weeks £50 put by I've now got £350 stashed away since September and will have £1000 come Christmas weekend so for me financially it's been great )as well as my health of course). Keep going - you're doing great!! Graham

I don't think I will be putting away the cash saved, with 2 kids no matter how much cash I have it seems to vanish but life will certainly be easier. Especially if we both manage to stop with vaping. Hubby is using my spare battery until his kit arrives so that's £12 not spent on cigs today already.

I was only asking the OH today where all the money i've not spent on cigs has gone this month? Admittedly, I have spent a bit on juices, but no where near the same amount i'd have spent on cigs, but it all seemed to have just evaporated lol. When I thought about it though I realised that I may not see the money in my hand so to speak, but I have noticed a difference - i've bought some new clothes this month, something i've not done in ages due to funds, we've also put a deposit down for next years holiday, and I bought the OH a few extra birthday pressies, so it is there, it's just been spent on other things, rather than rolling up a fiver and setting it on fire.
