I'm going through a hot spot phase again, tantrums, throwing things... They piss me off, too rarely I get it right, makes me feel like selling up and go back to cartos..
No matter how much I tweak the coil or move the wick I always get a hot spot at the top, All devices so it's not device specific, anyone wanna buy 4 atties Grrrrr, penny is easy but she's giving out poor vapour lately, was so tempted to get some baccy last night, but went a whole shift without vaping ( or smoking which I was tempted to ).
Off to bed

Skwoddy, as a thought if you're getting a constant hotspot at the top then what about joining a little nr wire and make a redundant wrap with it then use it to make your connection. Worth a go

Sounds like you haven't quite mastered the coil and wire bit, and neither have I. Pain in the bum, innit?

Could you have tightened the pos terminal up to enthusiastically as my last Genny was sent out like that and the silicon washer in the bottom around the power point was almost in half.It looked as if it had been put together by a toddler

Just wondering how tight a fit your tank is domestic ? I've put a clear tank on mine and it was really really tight. I can see the o rings have been mushed and I think if I take it off again I'll have leaking issues.
Definatly having a love/hate relationship with this. Had it working great last night, flavour was getting better and better. Then I dropped it when refilling and hot spots appeared. I've re coiled it and its going ok now but Im having to give it a bit of time inbetween hits to wick.
Has anyone tried double wicking these? how do you stop the inner wick moving around/ touching the bottom?

Hmm put a clear tank on mine on Fri, very tight fit, today it is leaking from the bottom. There is a small vertical crack at the bottom.
I think this is probably a stress fracture from the overly tight fit. It's not the liquid, cos I've vaped this in other clear tanks etc. I'll keep an eye on it for the mo.

So I had a tinker and answered my own question. Seems there is enough friction to keep the inner wick in place without too much bother.
Fingers crossed were back into the love phase. Its wicking really well now and flavour/vapour is really good. Im still hit and miss with making coils though and if I get a hotspot I can't seem to get rid of it, just have to start again.

stuntmunky - it's leaking from around the tank base (well, more oozing actually), so either the o-ring is out of place, foobarred or just not tightened down enough.
I will find out when I've vaped this tankload.

Thanks.. I just hope we can buy replacement plastic pieces, be a shame to wast a good genny for the sake of such a poor washer.

Can you not dig the centre pin grommet out of an old carto to replace it?

I've cut some grommets from old carto condoms, they seem to work.
Resisting joke about 'cracking cheese'

Obviously at your own risk, I'll keep fiddling and let you know. My original grommet is OK, but if you tighten the centre post too much, that can damage it.

I tried my vh-genesis for the first time today. Followed all the available tutorials, did the mesh, oxidised the bollocks off it, did the coil - and what a lovely looking coil! But it wouldn't fire up at all. Am wondering if I have the same trouble as the person earlier on this thread - something to do with the centre pin? But in one of the tutorials the guy said to push it up as far as it goes, all the way in...
Also, before all this I tried taking it apart and a small o-ring fell out. Have no idea where it fell out of - I understand the genny comes with two o-rings (I'm talking about the little diddy clear ones). I have one below the 3 nuts/bolts thingies at the top - so where does the other belong, and could this be the cause?
I hope someone can help. These rebuildables get right on my tits, and don't get me started on the vh-dripper or the vh-501 rebuildable..... And it was such a lovely looking coil - sigh...
