Hello everyone, my name is Matt and I am a nicotine addict.

Well I thought it was funny.

Here is my smoking life story. Skip to the end for a thankyou if you are easily bored.

I have been smoking for 28 years, full time fags, the occasional cigar and I have a sordid love affair with my pipe (you know, the kind of thing where you sneak off to the shed and sit in the dark grinning).

I stopped smoking fags at the start of November and I haven't looked back.

I bought a 'Smoke Relief' PCC kit online which came with 2 bttys, 12 cartos a case, USB jack, USB lead and wall plug.
I have since found similar products at better prices and better products at similar prices. But like everything else we try I didn't know what I needed or wanted until I was 'in'.

In all honesty it wasn't a bad buy as it helped me break into the 'scene' and gave me the courage to stub out fags, hopefully forever this time. (I have stopped smoking in the past for varying lengths of time but always found the excuse I was looking for to start again.)

It took me the first 4 days to transition from fags to the e-cig (during which I smoked 12 normal fags) but I expected that, just as it takes time to transition from filters to rollies etc. Those 12 complimentary cartos lasted me 3.5 days, 40 fags each my a**e!

I ordered more cartos, this time at 22mg instead of 18mg and it made a huge difference, down to 2 cartos a day since. Can't complain at £2 a day instead of £7 for fags. Also picked up an extra btty as I am using at least 2 a day so wanted one spare (and it came with 10 cartos).

Got fed up with throwing away the empty cartos so pulled one apart and decided I could re-use them and purchased some juice online last weekend. Have got about 20 used empties and a few different size/brand 'refillable' cartos that I purchased along with my juice.

This leads me to finding this forum whilst trying to find out why my juice tasted like burning tyres with a hint of battery acid after taste!

Thanks to you fine folks I now know that some of my used cartos were burnt after being sucked to death. Also I didn't know I should steep my juice, wow what a difference!!

Anyway, apart from the headaches, sore throat and mystery cold all is good in the world.

A few more weeks and I may be able to move away from my fag-a-likes and get into some of the groovy looking gear you folks are all raving about.

I guess we mostly all started the same way with the cheapo cigalikes and then gradually moved on to better vaping tools.

Others will better advise you on how to advance from here, but after struggling along refilling the cartos of my Skycig kit for a month, I bought this;-

which while a bit expensive, it did give me the oportunity to try out a whole range of tops while still giving me two batteries that together lasted 24 hours and a couple of clearomisers that allowed me to properly enjoy a couple of flavours that were very nice indeed.

Over the next 4 months I have bought other bits of kit while making sure that I never spent more on vaping than half the savings I was making by not smoking.
That is the only way that I can keep my savings in check and not rush out and buy every new shiney that hits the market.

Hi Raid and welcome, I started the same way with Skycigs, I soon moved to other deivces due to the very short life of the skycig bats. Have not looked back since, I am still trying to find my all day Vape though.
Good luck on trying to resist the urge to buy shiny things in the future, you will end up like me spending more on vaping than I did on fags.

Hi Matt and welcome. I have a pretty similar story (well maybe apart from the sitting in a dark shed grinning ) Have had loads of great advice here too. Congrats on getting off the smokes - I never thought I'd be able to stop and this is the first thing I've ever tried that hasn't had me climbing the walls from day one

I don't know smoke relief, but I notice they sell packs of 5 cartos for £5.95, which seems (on the surface) far better than than 2 cartos for £7.99 which another company sell.

BUT, I have a gagging order imposed on me by big brother that forbids me to mention the exact name of those lying, good for nothing rip-off merchants.

Interestingly smoke relief say "NB. Some other eCigarette brands claim one of their cartomisers is equivalent to 25, 30 or even 40 cigarettes. This is simply not true. One cartomiser roughly equals one pack of 20 fags. There are technologies coming out which do give higher amounts but they are still in the development stage and not generally available.

Smoke Relief electronic cigarettes are equal to or better than any other eCigarette brands - we just don't rip you off".

Anyway, enough ranting.
