Hopefully Firefox 4 will be officially released tomorrow. (bit off topic lol) We're famous for off-topicking Tomorrow, is it? I'll be on the look-out. I haven't been following the betas or new features, will have a look around. Unless you've any info, Vaped? I hope Perpy is not incommunicado The eBay phenomenon should be over, according to Grumps. scylla

Thanks both, I'll try that malware thingy Scylla . . . it needs to be a simple/straightforward fix for me to do, anything vaguely brain taxing I'll just glaze over . . . Avira has flashed up 3 seperate warnings again, as I've logged on just now.
So I assume 3 different nasties?
I also went onto Photobucket, which is notorious for bugs, so I'm always very careful on there, but you never know.
If it happens again, I'll endeavour to do a screenshot . . . but Avira, flashes up a warning and then zaps whatever in a few seconds, then the message goes.
Edit to say . . . I can't download the AVG software Scylla as it conflicts with Avira.

I didn't mention anything about AVG, it's: malwarebytes.orgIt won't conflict with anything, you just install it and run it and it will give you a report. Wish I could fly there and help you Not that I'm god's IT gift scylla X

RepairExpert on the boards says that Avira has had a few "false positives" on eBay over the years but he can't find anything current on their forum.
What browser to you use? IE* (* = version)? Firefox?

Bless you Scylla. I must have gone to the wrong free download link from that page . . . it's not that clear which one to click on ( for me anyway :-[ ) I'm still getting the alerts, it says it's a HMTL script something? I'm getting the warnings on both IE & FF.

Thanks Chris . . . I'll go do that now, it says it's an HMTL script virus on the warning.
Never had this before.

There's no link to anything else but Malwarebytes on the link I gave ??? It's the blue one for Free version. I usually use CNet myself, but gave the direct one because it was so straightforward... I thought Typical, when one is in this situation everything conspires scylla x

Goodness knows how I managed it then Scylla . . . but I am completely hopeless with things like this. Anyhow, ran the scan, it identified 794 things , though the security had no issues, the next time the warning came up I put it into quarantine, paws crossed it's all quiet now. So it must have been this false positive thingy . . . thank you all for your help.

Scylla, when you click on download now from the link you gave, it takes you to a "major Geeks" webpage & at the top of that page, the first download you see is for AVG - hence why Perpy got confuddled?

Scylla, I would have thought, the same as you - that by clicking on the download now tab on your link it would have gone straight to the Malwarebytes download.

Is this still ongoing with Ebay? I made the mistake last night of logging onto a selling account ( fortunately I'm not selling anything atm ) and almost immediately Avira flashed up a warning. It's continued this morning, Avira has dealt with all the nasties so far, but is there a scan I can run to rid my lappy of anything nasty that may be lurking . . . I had a quick look at Stopzilla, but didn't want to download anything that could make things worse without first checking. I know zilch about this stuff. Just remembered this so thought i'd mention it Was watching some tests on Youtube which reminded me. Avira, don't know if you use the default settings but this change makes a big difference to how good the program works. Click configuration, then General, and Threat categories, Tick select all. Avira should now be looking for all the list on the right hand side. I don't know why they don't set it up like this in the first place, gives much better protection. Just incase ya haven't done it already.
