We have rented a big house in Falmouth for xmas week, we'll come over via the tunnel, my brother will be there with his latest flame for xmas dinner/hopefully stay overnight, my parents live in Penryn, so are arranging all the shopping now... My first time back in the UK for over 7 years, fahking loathe the place (UK/Great Britain)and it's small minded politics/taxes. However.... you have to take care of your folks and it's rude not to visit if possible...I'll sort that next year by moving to the US. Have the Xmas you deserve folks......in the words of some dire song I cannot remember..

Most of the people I work with will be alone for Christmas I've been saying to them that this 'idea' of a big happy family Christmas is purely media driven. For every person that is looking forward to Christmas, I bet there are at least 2 people that are not Life can often be tough for people but this year even more people seem to be in tough circumstances Personally I'm just not bothered about Christmas this year, I've totally cut back, but I'm looking forward to spending it with my family and for that I count myself lucky Edited to add - my small immediate family, don't really talk to the rest of them

I like having the kids come home, but my eldest has recently moved to Aus, so it'll be a bit quieter this year. Mind you my middle one can make enough noise for 10 people lol

To be honest I'm amazed I wrote that as I don't really talk about it much. I think it's this forums fault lol. Anyway he gets lots of stuff at Xmas as we have a big family. Thanks again. Billy

That's so sad ((((Suede)))) Can't even begin to imagine what you must go through every year, to lose a son or daughter is unthinkable, to lose them at Christmas is rubbing even more salt in to the wound. It's supposed to be a time for everyone to 'celebrate' and 'have fun', but it's surrounded by grief for so many. I lost my Dad some years ago on December 17th, 6 days before his birthday. My father in law passed away on December 23rd. What's to celebrate? For everyone who's lost loved ones at Christmas

Am feeling the same this year for reasons stated elsewhere on the board and also how poorly I am, can't believe it's less than a week away.
I keep asking Chris to let me stay home alone but he says if I stay home he will too and that would upset his parents too much. Don't get me wrong I love them both to bits but know I'm not going to be able to help much and will end up feeling guilty / in the way.
Just want to hibernate until it's all over. Hoping when we get to in laws will feel more Christmassy but doubt it. Oh well fake smile here we come.

Think Christmas has gone from a friendly time to enjoy to commercial and pressure, and over the years while some have been lucky a lot more are finding it harder and harder each yr,everything increases,so more money to find bills bills and more bills...like most i am usually mister grump on the run up to Christmas ,even so the family bought me a black bah humbug Santa hat...but this yr is different for the first time we have the whole family here,we fell out with our son 14yrs ago and will say i had him placed in care,we just couldnt control him...but things looked up over the past 2yrs
in the end be greatful for what we have, there are a lot of people over this world who would dream just have one day of what we have got, even the most broke one of us
On Christmas day like a few mentioned i shall be at the Churchyard having a quiet word with my parents a few tears...knowing damn well my mum will looking down going "go home and have fun i am fine i am with family here to,we will be together again someday "

The bankers, politicians and the rich will enjoy Christmas, because they have probably all patted themselves on the back, they were able to keep the poor in their place and fool them into thinking, that by not having a pay rise for years we are saving the economy and clearing the countries debts

No, Alan, they won't enjoy Christmas any more than the rest of us because Christmas is about more than the haves and have-nots. It's about counting our blessings and putting aside grievances and resentment. I have no intention of letting the greedy and power hungry spoil my season of goodwill. They can spoil my new year, but I'll worry about that when Christmas is over.

(((Hugs))) to everyone who's not feeling Christmassy, I'm not either. Christmas to me is just the memory of arguments every year. Hopefully, next year will bring something new and different (the arguments have already started this year).

A Policeman on his horse says to little girl on her bike, "Did Santa get you that?" "Yes," she replies.
"Well tell Santa to put a reflector light on it next year," and fines her £5. The little girl looks up at the Policeman and says, "Nice horse you've got there. Did Santa bring you that too?"
The Policeman chuckles and replies, "He sure did!" "Well," says the little girl, "Next year, tell Santa the f***ing dick goes under the horse, not on top of it"
