Will we need to stock up on flavourings and vg too, or is it just gonna be the nic the Eu are gonna regulate? I don't think anyone knows just what may or may not happen but as far as I am concerned, I have a few months to learn how to mix and then decide what chemicals, including flavours, I will need to keep me in e-juice for the next 6 or 7 years, by which time something sensible will come out of the EU. Or am I clutching at straws. Like has anything sensible ever come out of the EU?

Exactly the same as you lobey. I ain't going back on the fags so am gonna stock up on 75mg nic. I reckon 500ml of 75mg pg based from nic vape will last me about 2 years, by my calculations, given i vape about 50ml a month.

Well I use about 16ml of 75mg to make up a 50ml bottle in that my final strength is 24mg. I use about 100ml a month, so 500ml of 75mg would last me about 16 months. At that rate I have enough Nic Base stashed away to do me 4 years.
However, I could well have cut my mg level down quite a bit before then and so that 4 years may stretch a bit in time. I will also be buying more nic base in the coming months.

I fear that some folks may be getting mixed up between 100% nicotine and 100mg nicotine.
100% nicotine is nicotine only in its purest form. 100mg nicotine is 100mg per 1000ml or 10% nicotine. The highest that you can import into the UK is 75mg per 1000ml or 7.5%.

Will we need to stock up on flavourings and vg too, or is it just gonna be the nic the Eu are gonna regulate? They won't stop people selling stuff that has a legitimate use in food preparation, though I guess people won't be able to advertise it as 'for vaping'. So flavourings and VG are safe. I think PG is probably safe as well - there are a lot of uses for the stuff other than vaping. And the current eu proposal would allow vaping at levels up to 4mg, so with luck and work at the legislative stage we would still be able to buy vaping equipment. We might have to import PG and equipment though - all the little vaping companies might well die, and the big ones sell only pre-filled carts. So a bit like 75mg nic. The conversation about 100% nic seems bizarre to me - we are paying maybe £25 p.a. to have someone dilute it for us, which strikes me as dirt cheap. But if we have to start smuggling it in, then smuggling 100ml (for 4 years supply) might strike some people as a lot easier than smuggling a litre, which could be pretty disastrous.

Giles, while they may not ban Food Flavouring, they could ban Tobacco Flavours and many of us mix our own Tobacco flavoured e-juices.

But they won't be able to ban tobacco leaves - which we can steep into our own tobacco flavour. I am stocking up myself, just ordered 4 liters of 60mg VG base from RTS vapes - they don't have 72 or 75, unfortunately.

It is perfectly legal in the UK to buy Tobacco Plant Seeds and for you to grow your own tobacco plants. It is also legal to dry, cure and smoke your own produce. The only illegal part is if you then sell your produce to others without collecting the apropriate duty and sending that to the apropriate authority. During WW2, many folks did grown their own tobacco and some, around here continued to do so until fairly recently. There was also a few illicit stills on the go, but that's another story. Anyways, how to grow your own tobacco and what kind to grow to suit your needs is well documented and good information is on the Net.

When I was a child we had plants in our garden named, I think, Nicotiana with white or pink flowers that looked like weeds in daytime. At night the flowers opened out and had a beautiful scent. The leaves left a horrible taste on your fingers. Would that be similar to the tobacco plant?

I couldn't tell you as I have never grown my own. My garden is a bit small for growing anything more than 8 or 10 plants. The gardens that were growing tobacco for curing were growing a 100 or so plants.

Aren't nicotine plants closely related to Tomatoes?
