Inalso recall something from a past forum member who was not completely trustworthy he told me last year about using a wall charger rather sub because most of my USB ports are 3.0 and (I don't know which are 3,0 or 2.0) something about 3.0 charging fast and not being a complete charge could be dangerous not sure how right or true this is but I don't trust my laptop to charge my batteries fully and safely,

I think it was something he who should not be named told me last year about using a wall charger rather sub because most of my USB ports are 3.0 and they are fast chargers or something to that effect I get brain fog and short term memory loss so can't recall it fully, but it seemed to make sense, perhaps while you are suffering from this you would be better just taking part in the social side of the forum rather than giving advice etc on things you do not really understand

I've been suffering from it since I joined, I wasn't giving advice I was just saying what I recalled you asked me why I used a wall plug rather than lap top I told you plus I then thought about it some more and recalled something I was told last year, I would never give advice if I was unsure of something, I'm sorry to say this Claire, and I'm not talking here as staff, but you are all over the forum either moaning or giving your advice on vaping. More worrying though is the fact that you give medical advice to members based on your own experiences. Considering that to quote you

I'm on here a lot at mo because I'm trying to take my mind of my hubby,s potential cancer dx, I,m sure when we get them next week I won't be posting as much again. Back it off please Claire . . . as this is getting rather ridiculous now. Perhaps spending a little time thinking before you post, might be of help to us all. I won't be posting as much anymore In response to your overnight edit, it's a sensible decision and I hope you are true to your word . . . the last few weeks have been a testing time for many of us Claire.

On the subject of charging, which is the best method for maximising battery life? Some people say that you should let a battery run right down before charging it. Others say that you should never run a battery right down but charge it little and often and that the less you run it down, the more life you'll get out of it in the long run? One for the tecchies please?

I have read that charging them often is good for them mikemichelle

What robby said, but they don't like being completely drained. Just what I read though, not tried it.

The main reason for not fully discharging Lithium batteries is a legacy of the older protected type of battery. If the voltage dropped too low on them, the protection circuit would be gubbed, resulting on either a dead battery, or a battery that needs a trickle charge to try and reset the protection. A lot of hassle thats best avoided.
Modern Lithium batteries dont have this circuit so dont have this issue. However, lithium batteries dislike being overdischarged (less than 2.8V) as it will reduce the lifespan of the battery.
Best practice is to keep voltage at 3V or more, preferably 3.2V.
If prolonging the lifespan of your battery is paramount (and capacity between charges less important) then don't fully charge them either. In technical terms, apply the full CC cycle and don't do a saturation charge. In reality, this isn't really the way to go. Our cells are cheap enough that we can fully charge them and enjoy the full capacity without increasing the cost of use too much.
As for storage (when battery is out of use for a while) keep the batteries in a cool place, and store them around 50% charge (3.6v or so).

Thanks for the replies guys! I think I'll let things get to about 50% and then charge!

A bit late, but hey ho.....I use the Nitecore two bay mains charger (from Myepack) and quite often leave a battery (or two) charging over night, the same as I might leave my Nexus 7 2014 charging. So far I have not been blown up, but it is mainly because I have bunged in a battery to charge up and forgotten about it until the next day. I do try to switch them off at night, and restart the next day, but then sometimes I don't but I don't lose any sleep about it........I like to live on the wild side of life in my remaining years....
