Hi BeresfordQuail, and welcome to the forum! I can't but endorse the advice given above. The 10-Motives are no doubt quite expensive, and I'm sure I've read elsewhere here that they are not really refillable. For a small outlay as detailed in the posts above you can do much better as regards the time you need between charges, the choice of cartomisers or tanks (clearos), and the massive choice of juices available. If you were smoking 20 ciggies a day, you will pay for an upgrade in 3 days, and then all you have to do is try all those marvellous juices and decide which ones you prefer. If you want to, you can even buy the raw materials and mix your own juices, like some of us do here - we call it 'Mixology'. The vaping experience you will get from even a cheap upgrade kit will be far better than the hit you get from the 10 Motives. I'm not to make any promises, but many of us here gave up fags completely and immediately, and we all continue to be tobacco free. Best of luck, please don't hesitate to ask any more questions, and keep us posted on your successes! Andy

Hello and welcome You can fill the 10 motives cartos that go on the rechargeable (I've done it.) I actually quite liked the cig-alike apart from cost of pre-filled carts. The battery life was dreadful as well. Kibbster: thanks for info. As I wish to stay with "cig-alike" for now, is there a better system than I have in terms of battery life & refillable carts. Any particular specs I should be looking at?

Hi and welcome beresfordquail
I can only echo what has already been said. The members here offer great impartial advice for us new users.
I've been here less than a week and already feel like one of the family.
Well done on not having a smoke for 10 days and long may it continue.
Good Luck with whatever you choose.

excuse my ignorance but the battery on the kit you refer to looks the same as mine> is it more pwerful than 10 motives?> at the moment I would prefer to stick with more of a cigarette style size as my primary motive is to give up cigarettes and so far so good Ignorance is always excused here - never be embaressed about asking anything. Short answer - the power is probably the same, but a battery with a 510 connection is better because you can attach stuff to it from a variety of suppliers. The best stuff has 510 connectors. I wrote a long answer (explaining mah) but the system logged me out and now I have to go - hopefully somebody else will do it for me.

Basically the higher the mah on a battery the longer it will last between charges.

What Giles wanted to say (hehe) is that 510 is the most common thread at the end of the battery and is used pretty much everywhere. If you get a 510 compatible battery you can screw tanks, cartomisers and clearomisers onto it that are all available form lots of different places on line and give you masses of flexibility and choice.
The more mah the batteries have the longer they last before needing charge. An e-cig without a charged battery is a paper weight so a charged battery and most people would suggest a spare to use while charging is important.
The best mah on a cig sized battery is probably 650mah (best I have seen) which would last 5 hours or so I guess, the next step up a Riva 1100mah battery will last 8-12 hours (mine used to last well into a second day.) All dependent on how much you use it of course. The bigger e-cigs with 2000+ mah batteries should last well over a day possibly even two (or three days with my 2200mah MVP.)

Any particular specs I should be looking at? The 10 motives rechargeable like I said is actually ok for a look-alike. Compared to a Riva 1100 though it pales. A ego sized battery will give a lot more power so more vapour and more flavour as well as last much longer than a look-alike. One of the highest recommended kits for starters would be www.vapeescape.co.uk/the-ve-riva-1100-deluxe-kit~151 this is what I went onto after my 10 motives and it was like night and day. In truth if I had stayed with the 10 motives I'd probably be smoking again by now but the Riva opened my eyes to a hole world of awesome toys and gadgets and has turned vaping from a smoking alternative to a hobby for me. And all thanks to this forum, words can't convey how much difference these guys have made to my quality of life, the advised a Riva kit and here I am three months later still not smoking

Hi kibbster. Another newbie here. I know what Beresfordquail means I think, I'm still using a 'cig-alike' too It just feels better - I have a Riva 1100 kit but the batteries are huge. Could you tell us where the 650mah cig sized battery you mentioned is on sale? Great site here. You are all inspiring a great many people like me who maybe don't ever post, but we're reading

Thankyou I also had a look there and these batteries might suit bq too. It might be the automatic nature of the batteries that appeals? I can understand that (I'm still using them) www.vapeescape.co.uk/510-automatic-batteries~436They might suit, bq

I quite like automatics as well, great for driving. They apparently activate at concerts and loud environments in your pocket though because they activate on sound. I never went to a concert with mine so not sure about the truth of it.
