Next question ) - roughly how long would a 5ml sampler bottle last? If I order 2 different flavours will that last me about a week? Should I order more?

I use tobacco type flavours at work and driving but at home I like the smooth pudding type flavours.

RY4 is a nice combination of the two, tobacco and caramel so worth trying that if you aren't sure which you like
I started on RY4 and still love it now.

Depends how often you vape and how deeply.
The average is 3-5ml a day I think.

My 5ml of Old Holby only lasted me 2 days, but remember it's all new so you can get a bit carried away at first.

You and me smoke(d) the same amount. I got by with under 2ml a day, but I suspect that is under average. Some folk just out and out love vaping and often go down with the nicotine level to vape more. We're all different, there's no right or wrong.

I work on the "probably less than 50%" principle - 1 ml of 24mg liquid is unlikely to provide more than 12mg of nicotine.

12mg of nicotine is like half a pack of standard fags. (I know fag packets have a nicotine "yield" written on the side, by law) but the yield is based on a machine smoking it for you....and they don't puff very often or suck hard under stress!

There isn't an instant "hit" of nicotine to your system from e-cigs. We don't have all the answers, but essentially one of the problems converting direct from fags to e-cigs is the lack of very fast and very powerful nicotine delivery.

I'd say vape as often as you need until you gain the confidence to simply not smoke anymore. Could take a day (with will-power) or could take months. If you use 3ml/4ml/5ml, then that's fine.

5ml will last approximately 2 days once you get used to vaping (new term)

Get a few samplers, just read the descriptions and choose what sounds good to you, you may also want to try a menthol flavour and a fruit flavour. many people are suprised that they like a menthol vape even though they did not like menthol cigarettes.

At first you may get through more liquid simply as it's new, try 18mg if that does not satisfy you you can go up in strength and conversely if you find it too strong you can get a lower nicotine level next time. Any you don't like can be swapped/sold in the classifieds section.

Keep asking questions no matter how silly you might think they are, we don't mind!

I'd recommend keeping enough supplies to last a week so as you get low you have time to re-order.

I'd also recomment getting a spare atomiser/clearomiser, just in case!

Hi nbee84 and welcome to AAEC.

The Riva is an excellent bit of kit. Definitely worth investing in if you want to give up the tabs.

You'll definitely get an inhale hit, in fact to start with it may be quite a lot stronger than a normal ciggie. The vapour from an e-cig can make even the most seasoned smoker cough like crazy until they get the technique right. This is, to some extent, why vaping is so successful at knocking the analogues on the head.

For flavours, as everyone else suggests, get small (no larger than 10ml) samplers to see what you like. I could advise 3 or 4 flavours that I personally love, but you might hate them. The batteries are easy to recommend, the flavours can take a while to find - and unfortunately that's the bit that's tricky. Sweet, baccy, puddings, menthol... everyone is different

For a complete new starter, one or two that may be worth looking out for are RY4 (can be a bit sweet), HS Storm and one that I particularly liked which was Temptation & Hedges - but again, you may hate those

I have tried a number of them and have settled on their "Royal" flavour. This is most like the Mayfair fags I used to smoke and it is my all day vape. It is mellow with a good amount of vapour but it is not as harsh as many others I have tried.
I buy it as a 50/50 mix. That is 50% PG and 50% VG. I use it at 24mg for what was a 40 a day habit. You may want to try it at 18mg.

"Benson Fences" is their equivalent of B&H. However I found this flavour to be a little harsh for my delicate throat!
Whatever you try, get the smallest amount just to try and then, once you have found some that you like, buy a bigger bottle.

Please remember though that a lot of us get fed up with tobacco flavours after a while and we drift over to fruit or other types of flavours. Paradise Vape do over 200 different flavours.

In vaping, the world truly is your oyster when it comes to flavours.

I think the riva is the way to go because its highly regarded by members and maybe have a look at getting into making your own juice, its easy, fun and self rewarding.

I think I use about 2-3ml a day but I have been trying out flavours so wasted a bit

Get a few different flavours for your first go you can order more really quickly - VapeEscape usually get your order to you the next day

 I went for cherry, caramel , menthol and RY4 - and I definitely have a sweet tooth for food, will find out soon if it's the same for vaping
