Hi everyone,
I'm having a terrible time trying to get a decent PV. First I get Vamo issues and now this.
Just purchased a second-hand Provari V2 and unfortunately I can't get it to power on. There is no flash of red from the button upon battery insertion, 10 presses isn't doing anything. Completely dead.
I have tried 5 different fully charged CGR18650CH's but to no avail. One of these batteries is brand new.
I looked around and noticed these batteries are highly recommended for the Provari so I assume they are a nipple top and not a flat top (as they look flat but with a nipple).
Also, I can only find one case of a Provari not powering up and this was because they guy was dropping the battery in, which made the positive pin move up. Now I don't have any rattle with a battery in but this screen is definitely not central in the window. It also looks like the red light inside the button is slightly off-centre. Is anybody else's like this?
Any suggestions?
Cheers
Steve.

Hi Steve . . . I've popped your thread onto the General Board, as it's a bit advanced for New Members.
Well, it's no secret I've several Provari's . . . but I do only use AW's in them, which is what Provape recommend. Efests are a newer, less hetic cost option, so I'd get either of those to try. Assuming the device was fully functioning when you purchased it?
I've no idea what these CGR18650CH's are I'm afraid.

You need NIPPLE top batteries, flat tops will not work.

Also, make sure the connector is clean and clean the connector on the batteries.
If you have a look inside the Provari you will see the metal pin that the battery connects to. Dip a cotton bud into some 99% isopropyl alcohol and give it a clean. then clean the connectors on the batteries. Leave for 30mins to dry out then try again!

Mine did the same recently and the clean with Alcohol and a cotton bud worked a dream. I only use AW nipple for mine (sounds wrong), I know the others I used to use for my Lavatube didn't work (only discovered that after I excitedly got my Provari and then had to wait two days for some batteries that would work in it )

Perpetua Wasn't sure what section I should have posted. Thank you I purchased it from an AAEC member, just waiting on his reply, but I assume he wouldn't send it broken. DiscoDes Thanks for the information mate. So are these CGR18650CH's flat top? If you type that battery in to Google, it is a highly recommended battery for Provari.

I use AW IMR's in it with nipple tops, no others will work and it is what provari recommend, you may remember Chris (Kuro) gave me a couple of Trustfire's at Vapefest so could get it going, I keep these as back ups.

It's amazing what a little clean can do isn't it. I was having issues with mine even though I had been cleaning the pin, then I read somewhere that I should be cleaning the batteries too. couldn't believe the muck that was on them and I've had no issues since

The positive pin is slightly recessed and there is a stop washer within the Provari so if it is a flat top or the nipple is not pronounced enough it will not make contact. Provari recommend AW IMR's.

Yes, I got through quite a few cotton buds, amazing how much crud was in there!!

I didn't think that ProVaris took 18650 batteries. I use an 18490 in mine.
