That was extraction for tobacco flavouring, nicotine extraction is a different ball game altogether.

No, I don't think so. Here's what he says about it (from this thread):

To extract the Nicotine from tobacco, you would have to use a solvent to break down the plant mater, and then a solvent reactor to remove the solvent used, then high temp or sub zero temp reduction and finally distil the resulting liquid.

Trouble is, it's not just the nicotine that a solvent extracts, it is the other nasty’s and potentially cacogenic substances as well...

I am sure there are methods posted on the internet, but, IMHO it is outside the realms of what we can safely do / should do at home, and to be honest, I wouldn't feel comfortable advising anyone on the use of solvents.

The method I have suggested is a mild process and just extracts the flavour, as in a tincture.

I am just not going to panic. People have been importing nicotine from all over the place and will continue to do so.
I very much doubt the sale of PVs will stop even if it means sourcing from China which most of us already do. The flavourings are readily available. I am sure if push comes to shove the will always be a way of getting nicotine from somewhere.

At least regulated as medicines it means that they cannot fall fail to the smoking ban, nor can they stop children using them in schools. They will be freely able to chug away on ecigs during class and the teachers will be powerless to stop them.

You cannot stop someone from taking their medicine after all.

I've been saying the same as you Blownupdolly.  There is a lot of scaremongering posts going on at the moment.  We don't have the full details yet and as it is linked to the TPD (hence the 2016 thing), there is still a lot of maneuvering going on.  I shall carry on buying base, although not 17ltrs!! (still has a life even in a freezer) RBA's and battery holders etc.  There is a long way to go yet.  I am not going to act like a toddler in the middle of Tesco, kicking and screaming cos the nasty man wants to take my toys away.

Exactly MarkS. And I think that is one fundamental problem they may have overlooked. Unless they come up with whole new medical parameters just for e-cigs, and well in that case, they would be better suited to a consumer product, albeit with medicinal tests.

With 3 years to come up with a solution, how do they get it so so wrong.

If anything, the Food Standards Agency is the best placed to deal with liquid nicotine, and the rest TS and OFT between them.

I was listening to Radio 4 tonight where the plonker from the MHRA was banging on about bubblegum flavour and all the other rubbish.
Unfortunately my three year old learnt some new vocabulary today as I was shouting at the radio in the car.

I would have headbutted the steering wheel repeatedly but I had my seatbelt on.
