Glad to help. Just one thing you might want to keep in mind. The problems we're having with regulation and bans are to do with authorities claiming that nicotine is a medical product. This isn't helped by health and cessation claims which cause confusion and promote the belief that medical regulation is necessary. If we're going to keep consumer regulation and non-pharmaceutical companies in business as well as effectiveness, competition and innovation then we need to promote 'smoke alternatives', not cessation. Swapping, not stopping. Using nicotine doesn't cure anything, it only prolongs addiction so we can honestly say that vaping has no medical purpose, just like smoking. The confusion is that we were all smokers and now we're vapers so we see the health benefits but it's still not a medicine in any way except in the minds of the pharm company's shareholders. xxx

Lolli I am sure you will be fine Only advice I can give you is .... Forget the rest of the planet . You are in a room to chat with 1 person, centre all your attention on them, look them straight in the eye, dont rush - speak clearly and slowly .

Hi Kate Kate is correct - If I wanted to stop. I would be using patches - silly menthol plastic tubes - gum etc. For me these are a joke and not satisfactory alternatives to cigarettes. I dont want to be a criminal but I also want to use the device of my choice and the liquid I as an adult choose to vape. If they ban the liquid and I am pretty sure we will be stuck with pre-filled carts . I will buy it direct from China or TW US etc, all they will do is stop me paying tax and providing people in this country with employment and income. They wont stop me vaping what I choose .

The confusion is that we were all smokers and now we're vapers so we see the health benefits but it's still not a medicine in any way except in the minds of the pharm company's shareholders.xxx Thank you for reiterating that point Kate; I for one have tried all the cessation products available and find them of no use to me whatsoever. From my point of view, vaping has proved to be a more healthy alternative to smoking and that's great but I don't now consider myself in need of medical intervention. I'm perfectly happy to continue using my PV/EN-i or whatever else an e-cigarette may be called until I choose to stop; I vape for pleasure as indeed I did when I was a smoker. The choice to change from smoker to vaper was entirely my own, educated, decision. I'm fully aware of the toxicity of RAW nicotine which I don't handle and am capable of taking care not to harm myself or anyone else when using highly diluted liquid nicotine in my vaporizer. I buy from suppliers I trust and ensure the liquids I use are in childproof containers that show all the necessary warnings and instructions. The same cannot be said for packets of cigarettes that can be opened by the smallest baby who is, of course, unable to read the warnings or understand the pictures on the cigarette packets. As a responsible adult I always kept my tobacco away from children in the same way I did with all the other dangerous household chemicals I use. Those who maintain e-cigarettes are 'dangerous' obviously don't consider tobacco to be so otherwise they would wish to ban that also, if they did they wouldn't just ban pleasant flavours that can be added quite easily by the consumer anyway, they would ban the burning of tobacco entirely. E-cigarettes are NOT medical devices, they are an alternative to smoking tobacco that delivers the nicotine many people desire; if they help people to give up smoking AND nicotine addiction, then that is perhaps a bonus but not the intention. Completely agree with everything you have just said Lolli Re you being on facebook. I mentioned in the STOP THE BAN OF ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES facebook group that a lovely member of this forum was hopefully going to be doing a live BBC radio interview about the e-cig. The admin of that group, Colin, then posted a link to this thread & your avatar came up next to the link Sorry for not being around today. Was out food shopping this morning & have spent the whole afternoon trying to help someone (over the phone) with a computer problem they where having. Not sure if I'm going to get online this evening either.

Lolli, what radio station is it going to be on, and can you or we record it?
I hope you realise how we all will be supporting you - with not a critical eyelash amongst. I got put on TV once and it nearly killed me, it was a programme Melvyn Bragg's wife made for Channel4 about booze and I was blackmailed into doing it and was completely tongue-tied, and when I did manage to get some words out they were cliches. I never recovered from it.
EDIT: Once again I've missed a load of posts, it's lovely to see the helpful ones. As for Facebook, someone asked me to join their group, whatever, soon after it started but I shuddered...

Hi Crissie Hi Scylla (I've missed you!) Chrissie, the stuff you've sent, & Kate's is great. Please don't worry about being tied up today - I have been too. Everything always comes at once! Thanks for mailing all that stuff Scylla, (I don't think I'll recover either!!! ) - as soon as I'm told IF IF IF & when it's going on I will post the day, time & channel- errr- wavelength ??? - can't escape the techie world no matter where I go - I do know technology is a wonderful thing - just as long as it leaves me alone & in peace with my paints, italic ink pen & mental arithmetic! Another thing that worries me about all that may lie ahead is my lack of knowledge & newbie ness (you cannot have failed to notice my less than speedy grasp of the e cig world it's almost painful ) PS - anyone 1) brief definition of "snus" ??? 2) nicotine in what other things ??? foodstuffs ? (excess of smiley clicking tonight!!!)

Lolli, you are far more techie than you realise - you have mastered this forum really well for starters Snus - is a moist powder tobacco product originated from a variant of dry snuff, in the early 19th century in Sweden, consumed by placing it under the lip for extended periods of time. It is used in a manner similar to American dipping tobacco, but typically does not result in the need for spitting. Snus is also unique in that it is steam-cured rather than fire-cured, is not fermented and contains no added sugar. The sale of snus is illegal in the European Union, but due to exemptions, it is still manufactured and consumed primarily in Sweden and Norway, although it is now available in the United States. Tomatoes contain nicotine. I also think it can be found in most plants that come under the nightshade catergory & these include potatoes.
