Hi all, I rather like Rolling Holborn from eVape. Luckily they also sell the flavour concentrate. I bought some and have been having great fun mixing it with VG about 80%VG to 20% flavouring and still get good taste so I can guess that less than 20% will be right when I mix it for real, probably 10% or less at a guess, based on the experience so far. I've been tinkering with it while waiting for delivery of some other mixology supplies. Just getting the hang of cleanly handling the various bits of equipment and finding out about how the whole process really works instead of what the theory is like. Now I am a bit stumped; I took a shot of the label from a used up bottle of the stuff. It says 50/40 pg/vg mix. Then it lists other items; deionised water, nicotine and flavouring, which presumably make up the other 10%, and probably in descending order of content if I am lucky (at least I have always understood it was supposed to be listed that way). In all the recipes I have seen on forums so far no one ever described contents of a mix this way before. Here's the pic I took of the label. So, when I have all the other stuff in stock, how should I set about working out what to do percentages wise for my first trial mix? Should I just view it as being a 60/40 mix overall and take it from there? ??? There are no instructions for a suggested flavouring percentage to be found sadly.

I would be tempted to do as you suggest and go 60/40 mix - the flavouring will almost certainly be in PG, and the Ionised water is not critical as most VG supplied is already thinned using DW anyway. The nicotine - depends on your nic base as to whether its in PG or VG but will say on the label. Hope this helps! Andy

Yeah, I'd assume it's 60/40. It's more common for nic base to be PG and also much more common for flavour concentrates to be in a PG base. Of course, they could be using VG nic base and flavourings in this case, but going with the odds, I'd bet on PG.

Have you a link to where you bought the VG nicotine base Ancient Hermit ? It is not a nicotine base, it's a flavouring, however to cover all possibilities, here's a LINK for the regular e-juice when they sell it that way, and a LINK for the flavouring only version.

Is the pic off a pre mixed eliquid bottle ? AH because then I could understand the list of ingredients. If it is just flavouring, I don't understand there being VG, PG, nicotine ,DW and the like.

I take it the photo is of a ready mixed juice from them? Yes, and so that is what I am aiming to replicate with the flavouring.

In that case as others have said, I would go 60/40 (although you can obviously go with what % you prefer) and perhaps 10-15% flavouring , I would always start lower as you can add but can't remove etc.

Yes, I guess I did not make it clear enough, sorry! It was a now emptied bottle and I kept it so I knew what was in it. The flavouring only version which I also bought says a whole lot less on it sadly! It's a pretty odd flavour and not really anything like Old Holborn as I knew it, but I do like it very much, it's got something odd about it which I can't readily put my finger on. Partly flavour and partly smell. Sometimes a slight hint of something almost but not quite entirely citrus about it too. Not sharp, but citrus, like the difference between lime and key lime.

There has been much discussion as to using Deionized or distilled water for thinning etc. I would strongly suggest the use of "Pure Pharmaceutical Grade Lab Water" available from most chemists, etc. It is far superior to either of the aforementioned.
I buy in bulk, but when I run short my local pharmacy sell me 5Ltrs for £5.00. I am sure they would do smaller quantities.

Kev I was simply quoting what the vendor says on it's label above, however, in practical terms I am limited to whatever Tesco or Asda have on offer. This time it was Tesco and it was £1.50 for 2.5 ltrs. Thanks for the clarification though, I've been wondering about it a lot. There is much misleading stuff out there and it's hard to know what to think a lot of the time!

Or just use a cheapie Vodka if you've no reasons not to AH . . . it will keep so much better than a large bottle of water, the time it will take most home mixers to use up.

I do like the idea & thinking behind that well enough, but I read that it diminishes vapour compared with DIW and I do like vapour! I also don't drink, not that this is a big issue in this case, but avoiding alcohol might be preferred for me I think.
