Some of you may remember my thread about my puppy.
Well after a few really great days even a week or two he suddenly took a dislike to my daughter and bit her last Saturday. So we made the painful decision to rehome him.
He took him yesterday to meet his prospective new foster parents dogs. He got on really well with them. She happens to be the behaviourists who was helping us. Today we took him to her house to see how he got on with her dogs in the home. He has known her for a few months and got on really well with her so I had no doubt that she would be able to help him and take good care of him.
He is now living with her and she has said I can have him back at anytime, but I would have to know that his reactivity has been dealt with. He now has 6 new friends to play with a a huge garden to run in. Not only that she can teach him agility which was my aid when we first got him. She also owns a large secure field for him to run around in totally free with no distractions other than his new friends.
But it stills hurts the house is so quiet, even though we had to be so careful around him not to make loud sudden noises watch his stance carefully, etc I find myself totally lost without him around.
My cats are trying their hardest to fill in the gap he has left but its not the same, they just want cuddles.
Sorry for any typing errors.

zeldamum You've made a really hard decision, but as things stood, I think you've decided well. The pup will have 'grown-ups' to learn good behaviour from, and you and your family will not have to tiptoe round on eggshells any more. I understand how you're feeling right now - we used to foster dogs, and know how hard it waas when some of them moved on - yours was never meant to move on, so those feelings must be even more intense Chin up - you know where he is, and that he will be very well cared for.

zeldamum, although your a bit upset and lost without your puppy, you've actually done a fantastic thing. I think the foster parents sound ideal, a place for the dog too play, other dogs for company and most importantly someone to help the puppy through his behaviour problems and give him proper training. I think he'll be happy .

Good for you. It's for the best. I've followed this thread since the start (never responded) and you can console yourself that he will be happy. Please keep the avatar...at least for a bit.

Such a shame Zeldamum and i can really appreciate how you feel.
But at least if it had to happen its happened in a way that you can feel confident you done the right thing and he does seem happy with all his new pals to play with.
I know its early days but when you feel ready you can bring another pup in without any feelings of guilt as you know hes happy.
But yeah the little beggars get right under our skin dont they

You've done the best thing for him, that's the ultimate thing you can do. I can wax on about all things but nothing changes that fact. Being a Pet owner is a selfless act and you have paid one of the highest prices.

zeldamum - I'm not a pet owner, but I can empathise with you all the same. Tell me all about it on Monday when you can have the real thing, but for the time being, here's a big for you from us all! Andy

I know for him it was the right thing to do. Seeing him run around a 4 acre field with 6 other dogs was lovely and he was faster than all of them. I think she will have her hands full with his hyper ness, but I really think a lot of his reactivity will just get forgotten over time as he learns from the older dogs. She text me about an hour after I left him to say he had settled down for a nap with 2 of his new friends. I had an idea he wanted another friend to play with, but there was no way I could have another dog for a few years. Hopefully I will have an update today via her Facebook page as she runs the local agility training club near me, so it won't take long for news to get around the rest of the members. chykensa you have met him and know how lively he was but also so happy, but he will be much happier now. A hug from you and Chrissie tomorrow will be good, thank you. Thank you everyone.

I have followed your thread and think you have made the right choice, it will get easier. Do you think you will go and visit him often? We had to do the exact same thing as you two years ago, so I totally get how your heart feels like it is breaking, visting and checking on him often helped us.
