Just to say hello to everyone and give a bit about myself.

I have been on stinkies for about 35 years now, mainly roll ups but in the latter more affluent years on tailor mades. I have been smoking in secret for the last 6 years as my wife is about as an extreme anti smoker as you will find (hence my user name!).  Its been hard, I can do 20+ a day then miss a couple of days but am known for being a grumpy sod.

I tried E-lites but was dissapointed with the battery life and they only vaped (?) about a day and a half before needing a new tip.  I decided to take the plunge and purchased a Vape Escape Vision 1000 Ultimate kit from Vape Escape and guess who opened the parcel when it arrived! I blagged it but am considering coming out the closet sometime soon 

So far after a month or so the experience has been very good.  I bought 20 fags on Monday as I was working away for a couple of days, they were foul but I don't like wasting money and by number 19 Monday afternoon they were beginning to taste ok but I wont be buying anymore!

Picked up some great tips from here so far and enjoying Jamaican Rum Punch and HS Menthol, not certain how to test flavors with out changing the atomizer so going to read through some more posts.

Does anyone vape on trains or buses or other "public" places?

Good sign that you're started to dislike the stinkies.

I tend to have a couple of puffs on the end of the (open air) Tube station in the morning, though it's already banned in mainline stations, I believe. Every couple of weeks I've a three hour train journey up the country - no one's ever bothered when I stand between carriages between the open window, but I'm sure eventually someone will.

I have vaped in public, and not been reprimanded, but generally I'll avoid being blatant! Where possible I'll pop into the loos but I have vaped in Wetherspoons ( but they have banned it since) at concerts (there's no pass-out so it can be 3-4 hours without nicotine) theatre (subtly) at local restaurants and pubs where staff know me and as long as its an e-cig hence legal - they haven't minded.

Also have on trains -it once took 7 hours to get back from Edinburgh due to high winds, my e-ciggy saved me going crazy!! normally on platform though? ...didn't know its been banned at stations!??

E-Cigs have been a godsend when I've gone away on mini breaks or stayed over after shows/concerts. I can't be doing with walking up and down from room to street like a yo-yo so now I can stay in the warmth with friends, having a drink and socialising whilst sucking away on my e-ciggy

Up until now I've only vaped in desperation as I've never got on well with the 'look alike cigarette' my battery always seems to fail when I really need it? and I didn't like the porcelain feel on my lips, the cartomisers are expensive...and I could never tell if it was depleted.. so basically I didnt feel enthusiastic enough over them as an incentive to quit real cigarettes. Today I took delivery of an ego type system and its been 5 hours so far and I havnt felt the need to light up a fag so this might work?

I reckon about 99% of people who think their spouse doesn't know they smoke are wrong. People often think that if they pretend they don't know then their OH will smoke less. So I'd come clean sooner rather than later if I were you.

I vape on trains, but I'm discreet about it.

How did you manage to 'blag' your way out of a delivery of an e-cig kit?

I never go out so can't really comment on vaping in public Seriously, I always use discretion when I'm anywhere that smoking is banned, I stealth vaped on a plane, much to Mr K's disgust

Trust me - on the odd occasion I have come close to divorce but you are right about coming clean!

Hi & welcome, @secretsquirrel. Surely you can come out of the closet & your Mrs won't mind the lovely aroma that comes from you vaping.

Hi and @secretsquirrel to the friendliest, most helpful ecig forum on t'interweb. I vape everywhere and leave it up to those who want to object to make the first move ... they very rarely do in my experience but when they do, it gives me a chance to explain the difference between stinkies and ecigs .. win, win no matter what the outcome is.

One of the most striking things that I've noticed since I quit and my sense of smell improved is how strong the smell of smoke on smokers is. When I smoked I just didn't notice! I think that you will be surprised what your wife knows

Still, it's a moot point now as vaping is a much more pleasant experience for everyone - you won't regret it!
