Newbies 1st purchase

Hi Everybody

Ive been a smoker, mainly 20+ rollies a day for roughly 16 years and ive finally had enough. Ive not enjoyed it for a long time and ive tired of being smelly and gunky, even the dog shuns me after i have a fag . But after lurking for a few days it looks like ive found the right place.


After reading some threads and watching some videos i think im starting to get my head around vaping, but then i see all the shiney stuff and i starting getting side tracked. I am looking to end up nicotine free, but like the fact i can go 0mg if i enjoy the experience of vaping.

So on the assumption that i totally quit smoking and vaping can i get some recommendations on a starter kit that would see me through for the duration, but also wouldnt break the bank.

I was going to recommend the Evod starter kit Karma has already linked for you!

Most definitely start off with 2 batteries, that extra expense is worth it! You can use one whilst the other is charging which in turn helps you keep off the stinkies in the mean time. I only got 1 battery to start and the charging time was sometimes quite difficult in the early days as I had nothing to do with my hands etc. Charging overnight is a big no-no for safety reasons so you can't get around it that way either!

Please don't feel afraid to ask ANY questions, no question is a stupid one and it can be quite a minefield at first choosing your initial set-up. We're all here to answer and advise whatever you need to know!

I too was a r.y.o. smoker.... 10 years on the ready-mades, 15 years (?) on the rollies.

I tried E-Lites, then moved onto JacVapour. One is stupendously expensive and utterly rubbish (not to mention almost useless in the real world) and the other saw me 80% of the way to quitting the fags.

Then, I googled "e-cigarette forum" and things looked up.

Been Vaping well over a year now. The guys on here know what they're talking about when it comes to kit....I'll leave you in their capable hands.

To be honest, unless you develop an addiction to buying (shiny) stuff, it's not expensive.

I had looked at the 2 recommended kits previously, and was leaning more towards the riva so I'll probably get that 1.

Just a quick question about liquids. Would I be better off starting with a tobacco flavour till my taste buds re adjusted? Or just order a bunch or different flavours and see what works best?

The jury is still out on that debate, personally i would advise you to try whatever your comfortable with, but just get small testers at first and do let them steep where needed. That way you don't waste your money but do get a better idea of just what you like, taste is a very subjective thing and as you say your tastebuds will change.

Apple is quite a good ' inbetween ' flavour and can perk up a tobacco eliquid if it's not exactly to your taste. Menthol is also another popular one, even if you never smoked Menthol cigs, it's completely different for some reason, vaping it.
